Expansion Valve Kit EV-.5N
Installation & Operation Manual
3.4 Piping materials
– Prepare locally-supplied refrigerant pipes.
– Select clean copper pipes. Make sure there is no dust and moisture inside of the pipes. Blow the inside of the pipes with
nitrogen or dry air, to remove any dust or foreign materials before connecting pipes.
Do not use any tools such as a saw or a grinder, which produce a lot of swarf .
Cautions for refrigerant pipe ends:
When installing pipe through a wall,
secure a cap at the end of the pipe.
Correct
3.5 Piping Connection
– Flaring dimension is as shown in the table. Remove the flare nut (Ø 6.35) at the liquid piping side of the expansion valve kit.
No need to keep the removed flare nut.
– When tightening the flare nut, use two spanners as shown in the figure. Ensure that no refrigerant leakage occurs.
– If ambient temperature and humidity inside the false ceiling exceed 27ºC/RH80%, attach the insulation (approx. 5 to 10m
thickness) on the insulation at piping connection. Dew condensation water may occur on the surface of the insulation.
– The pipes should be protected in order to avoid damage from external force such as an earthquake.
– Support the pipes with clearance towards the axis to avoid thermal stress.
– Ceiling material should be strong enough. Abnormal noise may be heard due to piping vibration.
– Perform air-tight test according to the indoor unit "Installation & Maintenance Manual".
– Apply the insulation material (accessory) at flare connection and cool it down after taping. Do not run through the extension
cable (accessory of the expansion valve kit) inside of the insulation material (accessory). A gap may exist between the
insulation for the refrigerant pipe and the insulation material (accessory). In the end, dew condensation water may occur.
Moreover, the temperature of the liquid piping (between the expansion valve kit and the indoor unit) is lower than that of
standard unit. Therefore, perform additional insulation work if necessary. (Refer to the figure.)
&
CAUTION:
Do not fasten flare nut hard. It may cause breakage with aged deterioration and refrigerant leakage. Use a specified flare nut.
Regarding refrigerant piping work, vacuum pumping work and additional refrigerant charge, refer to the indoor unit "Installation
& Maintenance Manual".
