VIDEO TAPE EDITING
After making connection as in the Fig. [H] on page 8,
follow these steps.
Video cassette
recorder (for

Press the PCM button. The PCM indicator lights.

If the PCM
REC/PLAY
button is pressed, press it
again to release it (1 PLAY).

Press the INPUT
SELECT
button
of the video cas- -
sette recorder to be used for playback.

Start playback.

Adjust the video color corrector, if connected.

Start recording.
Video tape editing can be done from one video cassette
recorder to another, for example, from a video cassette
recorder connected
to VIDEO
1 to one or others con-
nected to VIDEO
2 and/or 3, or from a video cassette
recorder connected
to VIDEO
2 to one or others con-
nected to VIDEO 1 and/or 3.
TIMER-ACTIVATED RECORDING
OR PLAYBACK
For connection, refer to Fig. [1] on page 8.
By connecting a commercially available program timer
to the AVH-555ES, then you can control the power on/off
of the AVH-555ES and the timer-activated recording or
playback. For details, refer to the instruction manual of
the timer.
Set the equipment according to the steps in 'Listening
to or viewing program source'. At the time set on the
timer, the power wil! be turned on and the ee
will be in the mode previously set.

REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION
For connection, refer to the Fig. [J]-1 or 2 on page 9 or
10.
With the supplied remote commander, the following
operations are possible.
® Power on/off
® Audio/video input selection
@ On/off of the PCM switch
® On/off of the graphic equalizer switch
@ On/off of the AC OUTLET UNIT
@ System off
@ Volume up/down
Battery installation
The Sony RM-34 remote commander
operates on two
{EC designation ROG (size AA) batteries. Insert the sup-
plied Sony SUM-3 New Super Batteries (NS) shown in
Fig. [K]-1 on 10.
Operation
Press the POWER
switch of the AVH-555ES.
Point the
commander at the REMOTE SENSOR of the AVH-555ES
as shown in Fig. [K]-2 on page 10.
Note
Use the remote commander in the range shown in Fig.
[K]-2. Remote control is not possible if there is an ob-
- stacie.
Battery replacement
The batteries last approximately 6 months
under or-
dinary use. When the distance at which remote control
is possible becomes
shorter,
replace both
batteries
with new ones.
Notes on the remote commander
@ When
the commander
is not to be used for a long
period of time, remove the batteries to avoid damage
from possible battery leakage.
® Keep the commander
away
from extremely
hot or
humid places.
@ To avoid a malfunction,
do not simultaneously
de-
press two or more keys.
