Safety instructions for sabre saws
● Hold the power tool by insulated gripping sur-
faces, when performing an operation where the
cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring.
Cutting accessory contacting a "live" wire may make
exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and
could give the operator an electric shock.
● Use clamps or another practical way to secure
and support the workpiece to a stable platform.
Holding the workpiece by hand or against your body
leaves it unstable and may lead to loss of control.
● Hold power tools only by the insulated handles
because the saw blade may come into contact
with hidden power cables. If the saw blade comes
into contact with a live cable, metallic device parts
may become charged with voltage and cause elec-
tric shock.
● Search for hidden power supply lines with suita-
ble detectors. If necessary, ask your utility com-
pany for assistance. Contact with electrical cables
can cause fire and electric shock. Damage to a gas
line can lead to an explosion. Penetration into a wa-
ter line causes property damage.
● Keep your hands away from the saw blade. Do
not grasp the underside of the workpiece. Con-
tact with the saw blade can cause injuries.
● Keep your hands away from the stroke rod and
the quick-action clamping device for the saw
blade. Contact with the saw blade can cause inju-
ries.
● Only apply the device to the workpiece when it
is switched on. There is a danger of kickback if the
saw blade jams in the workpiece.
● Switch off the device after cutting. Only pull the
saw blade out of the workpiece after it has come
to a standstill. This way you can avoid kickbacks
and put the device down safely.
● Only use undamaged saw blades that are in per-
fect condition. Bent or blunt saw blades can break,
negatively affect the cut or lead to kickback
● After switching off, do not brake the saw blade
to a standstill by applying lateral pressure. The
saw blade can be damaged, break or cause kick-
back.
● Clamp the material well. Do not support the
workpiece with your hand or foot. Do not touch
any objects or the floor when the saw is running.
There is a danger of kickback.
● Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with
a clamping device or vice is held more securely than
by hand.
● Always wait until the machine has come to a
standstill before putting it down. The tool insert
may jam and cause loss of control of the device.
● Lock the on/off switch in the off position before
carrying out any work on the machine (e.g.
maintenance, tool change, etc.) and during
transport and storage. There is a risk of injury if the
on/off switch is operated unintentionally.
● Protect the device from heat, e.g. from continu-
ous intense sunlight, as well as fire, water and
moisture. There is a danger of explosion.
