Setup/Text selector
Gateway 300 400 / will send the
supported car & head unit display surfaces (Navigation
Screen, Multi Information Display and Business Radio
display) for 30 seconds. To select the display used for ID3
information display press the relevant Disc# button shown
in the text displayed on the surface.

When using BMW text display, the
menu will be displayed on the head unit display instead of
on the iPod screen. You can disable text display with a
configuration file copied to a USB flash similarly as setup
is started.

If no target display surface is selected during 30
seconds, the "Select CDx"
the display. Press any button to clear.

Do not change audio source during the selection
period, this will cancel the selection.You can restart
it any time later.
• Disable text display and restart configuration if you
made a wrong selection and nothing is displayed.
• Certain head units require a double keypress for
normal operation.The first press erases the text from
the display; the second sends the command. This is
an inherent behaviour of some head units. If it is not
comfortable, please deselect BMW text mode.

USB Device Operation

Playback control
Playback from the USB device is controlled with the CD
selection and track change buttons.
Direct folder access
Select Disc#1...4 to access one of the first four folders in
the device's Music Root , the highest level directory which
contains a playable music file or a subdirectory with such
file. Music files will be played in alphabetic order, sorting is
not case sensitive.
Play All
Select Disc#5 to play the whole content of the device.
Music files will be played first, then directories recursively
in the Music Root. This is the default operating mode when
the device is first connected.
Search Folder
Select Disc#6 to enter Search Folder mode. Use the
Next/Previous track buttons to browse folders and listen
in to their content. If the buttons are not used for 30
seconds, USB player will revert to normal operation
switching off Search Folder mode. Select Disc#5 if you do
not want to wait. Selecting folders with
Search Folder subdirectories will be skipped and their
content is not played. Select Play All with
you want to access them.
When the iPod connected or the USB device is removed or
ignition switched off, actual playback position is saved.
File browser (BMW only)
On compatible CDTEXT capable BMW head units Search
Folder is replaced with a Browser, available selecting
Disc#6. In this case files will be displayed on the head
unit. Music file names prefixed with , directories with .
