Function BASIC STEPPER

There are two modes of stepper available:
• BASIC STEPPER MODE and
• ADVANCED STEPPER MODE.

Isolation Contactor Control

Contactor Saver is a functionality which extends the life of the Weld Contactor by
maintaining the contactor closed between welds reducing the number of
open/close cycles. The Weld Contactor is controlled in such a manner that the
contactor is never opened or closed with weld current flowing.
This input will monitor the operation of the weld contactor. A Normally Closed
Closed
(NC) auxiliary contact on the weld contactor will be connected to this input. The
input will be "off" (0V) when the weld contactor is closed. This input is checked at
the end of Squeeze Time. If the Input is not "off", the weld will be aborted and an
error message displayed "Weld Contactor 1 Not Closed".
The input will be checked after opening the Weld Contactor. If input is not "On" in
100 milliseconds, a fault will occur. The Error Message "Weld Contactor 1 Did Not
Open" will be displayed.
(Contact Saver Active "on" + Weld/No Weld "Weld")
The Weld Contactor Output will be set to "On" (24VDC) with the receipt of a
program start (internal or external) and Weld/No Weld (internal and external) set
to Weld. The Status of Serial Input "Contactor Saver Active" will not prevent
closing the weld contactor. Output "Close Weld Contactor" will stay energized at
the end of the weld if serial Input "Contactor Saver Active" is on, enabling the
contact saver functionality.
If Serial Input "Isolation Contactor Saver Enable" is off, Output "Close Contactor"
will be turned off at the End of Hold Time.
On – Contact Saver function is executed.
OFF – Contactor will close and open for the individual weld initiated.
This input will be used to enable Contact Saver Functionality. The input may be
used to open the Weld Contactor as necessary, i.e. Tip Dressing. If this input is
low (off) during the receipt of a program start (Weld Mode), the Contactor will be
closed at the beginning of the weld cycle and opened at the end of the weld cycle.
If this input is high (on) during the receipt of a program start, contactor saver
functionality will be executed.
The contact saver function will maintain the contactor closed at the end of a weld
unless one of the following conditions occurs.
• Emergency Stop is executed. The contactor will be opened immediately.
• Hardware or Process Fault occurs at the Weld Control. The contactor will be
opened at the end of Hold Time for completed weld schedules. The contactor
will be opened at the end of current flow for aborted weld schedules. This will
occur regardless of the condition of the Serial Input "Contactor Saver Active".
• Serial input "Contactor Saver Active" is turned off. If "Contactor Saver Active" is
turned off during a weld, the contactor will open at the end of Hold Time. If
"Contactor Saver Active" is turned off when no weld schedule is active, the
contactor will be opened immediately.
• Contactor Saver Time Out. A Timeout is defined as a period of time with no
receipt of a "Start" or Weld Initiate signal. The timeout is to be a programmable
variable. The programming range of this variable is to be 40 second – 120
seconds in 1 second intervals. Default value to be 60 seconds.
