Safety instructions:

• Make sure that the operating voltage indicated on the type plate corresponds to the mains
voltage.
• When changing the lamp or switching the lamp intensity, always disconnect the mains plug
first and allow the lamp and socket to cool down. Screw in the new lamp and check the
switch position (2), then reconnect to the mains.
• When screwing in and unscrewing the lamp, hold the cooled socket with one hand to secure
the cable against twisting.
• Do not put a product with a damaged mains supply cable (3) or damaged special cable (5)
into operation.
• Do not replace damaged supply cables or special cables with commercially available cables.
In case of a damaged cable, contact the manufacturer.
• The lamp socket is a special socket and must not be replaced by commercially available
sockets. Please contact the manufacturer in the event of a damaged socket.
• The ballast unit cannot be disassembled or repaired. If damaged, it must be disposed of.
• The product is not a child's toy. This appliance can be used by children over 8 years of age,
by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, and by people without
experience of the product if they are under supervision or have been instructed how to use
the appliance in a safe way, and if they understand the hazards involved.
• Cleaning and maintenance are not to be carried out by children unless they are older than 8
years and under supervision.
• Do not immerse the unit in water and ensure no water can enter the site of installation.
• For indoor use only.
• Any assembly or mounting deviating from the procedure described in the following and
requiring the removal of electrical connections may only be carried out by a trained
specialist! Improper electrical connections may cause injury from electric shock and pose a
fire hazard!
Note on the mounting location:
If the ballast is not sufficiently ventilated, e.g. if it is installed in the gap between the back of the
terrarium and the wall of the living room, there is an automatic switch-off to protect the ballast
from damage caused by overheating. If overheating occurs, disconnect the ballast from the mains
and move it to a place with sufficient air supply. Wait 10 minutes and then reconnect to the mains.
A sudden extinguishing of the lamp after some time in operation may be due to an overheating
of the ballast unit.
Note on the switch-on process:
Metal halide lamps go through an ignition process after being switched on and therefore need
a certain amount of time to reach their full brightness. The lamp may flicker slightly during the
ignition process. After the power supply has been interrupted and switched on again, the metal
halide lamp will only restart with a new ignition process after a suitable cooling time.
