Safe condition

The portable power supply is in safety-compliant
condition if the following conditions are met:
– The portable power supply is undamaged.
– The portable power supply is clean and dry.
– The portable power supply is functioning and
unaltered.
– The fall protection is undamaged and unal‐
tered.
– Original STIHL accessories for this portable
power supply are attached.
– The accessories are correctly attached.
WARNING
■ In non-safety-compliant condition, the portable
power supply can no longer function safely.
This may cause serious injury to persons.
► Work with an undamaged and functioning
portable power supply.
► Do not charge a damaged or defective port‐
able power supply.
► If the portable power supply is dirty or wet,
clean the portable power supply and allow it
to dry.
► Do not alter the portable power supply.
► Do not insert objects into the openings of
the portable power supply.
► Do not bridge or short-circuit the contacts of
the portable power supply with metallic
objects.
► Do not open the portable power supply.
► Use original STIHL accessories for this
portable power supply.
► Attach accessories as described in this user
manual or in the user manual for the acces‐
sories.
► Replace worn or damaged labels.
■ Liquid may leak from a damaged portable
power supply. If that liquid comes into contact
with the skin or eyes, the skin or eyes may be
irritated.
► Avoid contact with the liquid.
► If skin contact occurs: Wash affected areas
of skin with plenty of water and soap.
► In the event of contact with eyes: Rinse
eyes with plenty of water for at least
15 minutes and consult a doctor.
■ A damaged or defective portable power supply
may smell unusual, emit smoke or burn. Per‐
sons may be seriously or fatally injured, and
property may be damaged.
► If the portable power supply smells unusual
or emits smoke, do not use the portable
power supply and keep it away from com‐
bustible materials.

► If the portable power supply is on fire, try to
extinguish the portable power supply using
a fire extinguisher or water.

Charging
WARNING
■ During charging, a damaged or defective port‐
able power supply or charging cable may
smell unusual or emit smoke. Persons may be
injured or property damaged.
► Disconnect the mains plug from the power
outlet.

Connecting to the power supply

Contact with live components may occur for the
following reasons:
– The charging cable or the extension cable are
damaged.
– The power plug of the charging cable or the
extension cable is damaged.
– The power plug connected to the mains is not
installed correctly.
DANGER
■ Contact with live parts may result in electric
shock. This may result in serious or fatal injury
to the user.
► Ensure that the charging cable, the exten‐
sion cable and its mains plug are undam‐
aged.
If the charging cable or the extension
cable are damaged:
► Do not touch the damaged area.
► Disconnect the mains plug from the
power supply.
► Handle the charging cable, extension cable
and their mains plugs with dry hands.
► Insert the mains plug of the charging cable
or the extension cable into a correctly
installed and fused power outlet with a pro‐
tective earth contact.
► Connect the charging cable via a residual
current device (30 mA, 30 ms).
► If the charging cable or extension cable is
connected or disconnected, always grip the
plug and do not pull on the cable.
■ A damaged or unsuitable extension cable can
result in electric shock. There is a risk of seri‐
ous or fatal injury.
► Use an extension cable with the correct
cable cross-section,
► If the portable power supply is to be
charged or used outdoors, use a splash-
proof extension cable approved for outdoor
use.
