WARNING
Short circuit
• Never short circuit a cell. It generates a very high
current which causes heating of the cells, and may
cause electrolyte leakage, gassing or explosion that is
very dangerous.
• The Li-ion pouch cell tabs are easily short-circuited
by putting them on conductive surface. Such outer
short circuit may lead to heat generation and damage
to the cell. An appropriate circuitry with PCM shall
be employed to avoid accidental short circuit of the
battery pack.
WARNING
Mechanical shock
• Li-ion pouch cells have less mechanical protection
than metal-can-cased lithium-ion cells.
• Actions such as falling, hitting, or bending may cause
degradation of Li-ion pouch cell characteristics.
WARNING
Handling of Tabs
• Cell tabs in general and in particular, aluminum cell
taps, are fragile. Do not bend tabs unnecessarily.
