2. 2 telescopic handles are provided at the head and foot end of the stokes basket for
easy lifting. To adjust the length of the handles, pull up the locking pins and pull the
handles out until the locking pin sinks back into the next drill hole (image 1).

3.4 Lifting the stokes basket with a transport gear

1. Hang the carabiners of the transport gear in the handle openings (shorter strands at
the head end) (image 2).
2. Make sure carabiners are properly locked.
3. Make sure that the transport sling is not twisted and that the injured person is
securely restrained.
4. Hang the carabiners of the rescue hoist in the eye of the transport gear and slowly lift
the stoker basket with the injured person.

1. Secure the patient with at least 4 straps, 2 of them under the armpits, to prevent them
from slipping. If the patient is injured in the lower limbs, immobilize them with suitable
