Distance addition and subtraction:
Addition:
Press the (+) button
The (+) symbol will be displayed on the screen and the
next measurement will be added to the previous one.
Subtraction:
Press the (-) button
The (-) symbol will be displayed on the screen and the
next measurement will be subtracted from the previous
one.
The device will then automatically switch to single
measurement mode.
Calculation of the area:
Press the Area / Volume button.
The square symbol will appear on the screen.
Then press the measurement button to start measuring
the area length.
Press the button again to start measuring the area width.
The result (area measurement) will appear in the main
line of the screen, together with the previously measured
length and width of the area.
Volume measurement:
Press the Area / Volume button three times.
The cube symbol will appear on the screen.
Then press the measurement button to start measuring
the length.
Having measured the length, press the measurement
button again to start measuring the width.
Press it again to start measuring the hight.
The result (volume measurement) will appear on the
screen, together with the three previous measurement
results.
Indirect measurement A:
This function enables measurements which are not
possible with ordinary direct measurements.
It's based on the Pythagorean theorem.
For example, if you want to know the height of a
building, as shown in (b), first measure the distance from
where you stand to the base of the building (a).
Then measure the distance from where you stand to the
top of the building.
This distance is indicated in (c).
To take such a measurement, select the appropriate
position and press Pythagoras button.
The triangle symbol will appear on the screen.
Then press the measurement button to start measuring
the (a) distance.
Then point the device towards the top of the building
and press the measurement button again to measure the
(c) distance.
The (b) distance result will appear in the main line of the
screen together with the previous results immediately
after the last measurement.
Indirect measurement B:
This type of measurement is helpful when measuring
along the ground is impossible due to uneven surface.
It enables measuring the height of the building, as with
the indirect measurement A, by means of three
measurements, (a), (b) and (c), taken from the same
location.
Select the desired position and press the Pythagoras
button twice, then the triangle symbol will appear on the
screen.
Then point the device towards the base of the building
and press the measurement button.
The distance will be displayed on the screen.
Then point the device at the building at eye level and
press the measurement button again.
