- Maintain the identification sheet and the
maintenance monitoring table as soon
as it is put into service and during each
examination.

BEFORE USE

- The maximum user weight indicated in the
product specifications (equipment included)
must not be exceeded (#7).
- Check, by visual examination, the good
condition
of
the
absence of faults:
Fall prevention harness
Condition of straps, seams, adjustment
buckles, rings. Absence of wear, cuts,
fraying, incipient of fractures, deformation,
traces
of
oxidation
and ensure the legibility of the markings
(identification
and/or
Functioning and cleanliness of the buckles.
Lanyard and energy absorber
Condition of lanyards, seams, connectors.
Absence of wear, cuts, fraying, incipient of
fractures, deformation, traces of oxidation,
knots or discolouration and ensure the
legibility of the markings (identification and/
or validity date). Connectors workings.
Automatic retracting fall arrester
• Condition of the anchor element.
• Condition of the housing and its assembly:
no deformations, no cracks, no traces of
major impacts, screw tightened.
• Lanyard condition: no cuts or fraying, no
traces of chemical attack, no deformation.
• Condition of the automatic connector:
ensure that it locks properly, that there is
no deformation or corrosion, and that the
fall indicator is not activated (#9-A).
• The validity date of the device must also
be checked. The latest
revision must date back to less than one
year.
• Before every use, check whether the
safety system triggers properly by pulling
sharply on the lanyard. The fall arrester
must lock the lanyard and stop it from
unwinding. On the other hand, by pulling the
lanyard slowly and steadily, it should unwind
and rewind normally.

DURING USE

- Regularly check the condition of the
equipment
and

equipment.
- A connector must never be stressed at
its clasp level.
- Avoid areas where there is a risk of falling.
Fall prevention harness
- During use, regularly check the adjustment
elements and fasteners of the harness.
These components must be protected
against all stresses coming from the
environment: mechanical stress (shocks,
sharp edges...), chemical (projection of
acids, bases, solvents...) electric (short-
circuits, electric arcs...) or thermal (hot
surfaces, torches ...).
Lanyard and energy absorber
- Take appropriate precautions when using
the
energy
absorbing
possible loading on a sharp edge.
- If there is a risk of falling, reduce as
much as possible the amount of slack in
the lanyard.
Automatic retracting fall arrester
- If the slightest defect in condition or
operation is observed or in case of any
doubt, do not use the device but return it to
the manufacturer or send it to an approved
centre for servicing or repairing.
- Do not use over bulk materials, into which
one can sink.
- Despite the good protection provided by
the casing, it is important to not expose
the fall arrester and especially the lanyard
to aggressive environments including acids,
bases or solvents that are likely to damage
the equipment, particularly if the ambient
temperature is high.
- Similarly, it is important to ensure that the
fall arrester is used while avoiding rubbing
the lanyard on sharp or rough edges that
can damage it. Use edge protection.
- Pay special attention to the combined
rigidity of the different elements used to
prevent the interlocking of the fall arrester
from being disturbed, delayed or unlocked
by a rebound.
- In case of a pendular fall, the vertical fall
height is greater than for a direct fall. Do
not move away from the perpendicularity
of the anchor point of the fall arrester by
a distance greater than half the height
between the anchor point and the work
