Aiming the sensor (fig.4d)
Once the sensor is installed and mounted on the sensor base, it can be
aimed. Insert a flat screwdriver in the opening in the sensor base. Apply
pressure to the steel grip while rotating the sensor. If the sensor is aimed
correctly, you can remove the screwdriver. The grip bolts itself in one of the
ring holes. Note: the sensor plate is provided with 29 sections that stand
5° apart in all directions.
2.4. Connections
fig. 5: wiring diagram of a dualtech motion sensor (350-20110 / 350-20111)
and power supply 360-37000.
The sensor is part of a SELV system (insulation class 2).
Cabling sensor: ±0,5mm diameter for a distance of 200m
2.5. Sensor range (fig.6)
The detection range goes for a mounting height of 2,5m in a room without
furniture. The max. ceiling height is 3m.
Note: By placing the cover cap, the detection range can be limited. Waving,
typing and other subtle movements are considered small movements.
Walking is the best example of a large movement.
Remark regarding fig.6: These detection diagrams are based on measurements
in open, unseparated rooms. Take into account that partitions as mobile walls,
can limit both the ultrasonic and infrared ranges of the sensor. The infrared
lens requires min. 25% (free) sight to an object to be able to detect it.
Covering the infrared lens
For certain installation, the infrared range has to be limited by placing a mask.
This prevents the sensor from being activated mistakenly if the infrared range
reaches out into the hall through an open door. This mask kit contains 3
masks: (dualtech motion sensor 350-20110 does not contain a mask for
conference rooms). For mounting a mask, remove the safety ring (cap at the
front of the sensor, fig.3b) by means of a small, slotted screwdriver.
- mask for conference rooms (fig.8)
If you mount a sensor in the middle of a large room, the mask for confer-
ence rooms limits the infrared range. This mask is used when the dualtech
motion sensor is mounted in the middle of a long, rectangular room (e.g. a
conference room). This mask provides a more rectangular infrared range
and prevents detection through open doors out into the hall.
- 180° masker (fig.9)
If the sensor is mounted in a doorway, you have to prevent the infrared
range from reaching out into the hall.
20
- cut out mask (fig.10)
This mask is calibrated on the inside, so it can easily be adjusted to any
situation. For the areas in which you want motion detection, you can
simply cut out the sections from the mask. For the areas in which you do
not want motion detection, you can just leave the sections in.
3. SETTINGS AND USE
When taking into use, the sensor is set to automatic/intelligent mode.
You are recommended to use mode 3.1 Only use mode 3.2 in specific
cases.
3.1. Automatic/intelligent mode (fabric settings)
After mounting and connecting the sensor, you do NOT have to make
additional settings. For the first 4 weeks after connection, the sensor
operates in training mode. During this period, the sensitivity of the sensor
and the switch off delay (timer) are tuned to the detected activity. This way,
the sensor learns during which (busy) periods of the day there has to be a
max. sensitivity and adjusts the switch off delay so the time during which
the lighting is switched 'ON' is minimalized.
3.2. Modifying the sensor setttings
In order to make other settings, you have to remove the safety ring (cap
at the front of the sensor, fig.3b) by means of a small, flat screwdriver.
You see two ranges of 4 dipswitches (A and B) and 4 colored potentiometers
(red, black, green and blue) (fig.11).
a) Dipswitches
When taking into use, the two ranges of dipswitches are set to 'OFF'. In this
position, the sensor operates in automatic/intelligent mode
b) Colored potentiometers
By means of the 4 potentiometers, the sensitivity, switch off delay and
daylight level can be set.
c) Setting the sensitivity
Note: in manual mode, the sensor operates according to the set value,
in automatic mode, the sensor can automatically increase the sensitivity
if necessary. The sensor cannot become less sensitive than the preset
sensitivity. In automatic mode, you are recommended to preserve the
fabric settings for sensitivity.
Red potentiometer: setting the infrared sensitivity (PIR). Turn the poten-
tiometer clockwise to increase the sensitivity. Recommended (fabric)
setting: 75%.
