Below are the possible conditions / uses that can cause a
misreading or inaccurate measurement of the device:

Signi cant levels of dysfunctional hemoglobin (such as carbonyl -
hemoglobin or methemoglobin).
2
Intravascular dyes such as indocyanine green or methylene blue.
3
SpO2 measurements may be negatively a ected where there is too much
ambient light. Cover the sensor if necessary (for example, with a surgical
towel).

Excessive patient movement.
5
High-frequency electrosurgical interference and de brillators.
6
Venous pulsations.
7
Placement of a sensor on an extremity with a blood pressure cu , arterial
catheter, or intravascular line.
8
The patient has hypotension, severe vasoconstriction, severe anemia, or
hypothermia.
9
The patient is in cardiac arrest or is in shock.
