Operating instructions
DSP-3005V laboratory power supply
Item no. 2446085

Intended use

The power supply is used as a potential-free DC mains supply to operate low-voltage devices.
It is connected via 4 mm safety sockets. The output voltage and current can be adjusted. The
DC output is electrically isolated and features protective isolation towards the mains voltage.
An additional independent USB charging port is provided.
The device should be connected to and operated with an earthed socket of the public mains
supply only. The socket should be within easy reach of the user, or the device should be ope-
rated via an all-pole cut-off device (central cut-off).
Using this product for any purpose other than those described above may damage the product
and result in a short circuit, fire or electric shock.
The product must not be modified or reassembled. Do not attempt to open the device housing.
The operation in moist rooms or outdoor or under adverse ambient conditions is not permitted.
Unfavourable ambient conditions include:
• wetness or high air humidity,
• dust and flammable gases, vapours or solvents,
• thunderstorms or similar conditions such as strong electrostatic fields.
Always observe the safety instructions included in these operating instructions.
This quick guide explains the safety measures that should be taken to ensure the safest pos-
sible use of the device. A detailed description of the individual functions of the device can be
found in the included operating instructions.

Description of symbols

The symbol with the lightning in the triangle is used if there is a risk to your health,
e.g., due to an electric shock.
The symbol with an exclamation mark in a triangle is used to highlight important
information in these operating instructions. Always read this information carefully.
The arrow symbol indicates special information and tips on how to use the product.
This device is CE compliant and therefore meets the necessary national and Euro-
pean guidelines.
Only to be used in dry indoor areas
Protective conductor connection, safety class 1. This screw/connection must not be
detached.
Earth potential
Safety transformer
Symbol of the mains fuse
Periodically check the technical safety of the device and the connected test leads,
e.g. check for damage to the housing or crimping etc.
Never operate the device when it is open. FATAL HAZARD!

Safety information

Read the operating instructions carefully and observe in particular the safety
instructions. If you do not follow the safety information and information on
proper handling in these operating instructions, we will assume no liability for
any resulting personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate
the warranty/guarantee.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible for
reasons of safety and approval (CE).
• The design of the product complies with safety class 1. The product must only be
connected to an earthed standard mains socket of the public supply grid.
• Mains-operated devices must be kept out of the reach of children. Therefore, be
especially careful when children are around.
• When multiple outputs are combined, perilous voltages can occur. Only use
contact-protected safety test leads for voltages of >42 V/AC or >60 V/DC.
• Take particular care when dealing with voltages exceeding 25 V AC or 35 V DC!
Touching electrical conductors with these voltages may cause a fatal electric
shock.
• The power supply will heat up during operation; ensure appropriate ventilation. Do
not cover the ventilation openings on the device!
• Do not leave power supplies and connected consumers in operation unattended.
• Only use fuses of the specified type and rated current. Repaired fuses must not
be used.
• Avoid using bare wires. There is a risk of short-circuit and fire.
• Do not use the device shortly before or after a thunderstorm (lightning/high-power
surges). Make sure that your hands, shoes, clothing, the floor, the measuring
device/test leads, circuits and circuit components are dry.
• Do not use the device in rooms or under unfavourable ambient conditions in the
presence of combustible gases, vapours or dust.
• Avoid using the device in the immediate vicinity of:
- Strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields
- Transmitting antennas or HF generators.
- The controller can be damaged.
• Only use test leads or equipment harmonised with the specifications of this device.
There is a risk of fire due to overvoltage.
• If you suspect that safe operation is no longer possible, stop using the device
immediately and prevent unauthorised use. A safe operation can no longer be
assumed if:
- there are signs of damage,
- the device does not function properly,
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time,
- the device was subjected to rough handling during transport.
• Never switch the device on immediately after moving it from a cold to a warm
environment. The condensation generated may destroy the product. Leave the
device switched off and allow it to reach room temperature.
• Do not disassemble the product! An electric shock can be life-threatening!
Capacitors inside the device may still be charged, even if the device has been
disconnected from all voltage sources.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly, as it could become a
dangerous plaything for children.
• The device is intended only for dry interior rooms (not bathrooms or similar damp
rooms). The device must not get wet or damp. An electric shock can be life-
threatening!
• For installations in industrial facilities, follow the accident prevention regulations for
electrical systems and equipment issued by the national safety organisation or the
corresponding national authority.
• Power supplies used in schools, training facilities, do-it-yourself and hobby
workshops should not be handled unless supervised by trained, responsible
personnel.
• The power supply is not designed for use on humans or animals.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the
device.
• Handle the product with care. It can be damaged through impact, blows or drops,
even from a low height.
• Please observe the provided detailed operating instructions as well as the safety
instructions in the operating manuals of the connected devices.
