Checking the v-belts
Remove the screws on the V-belt cover.
Check that the V-belt can be flexed 10-15
mm with a moderate pressure using the
thumb and forefinger.
If the V-belt is cracked, crumbling or worn, it
should be replaced.
If the V-belt is too loose or too tight, it must
be adjusted:
Loosen the 4 screws holding the engine in
place. They only need to be loosened slightly
so the engine can move.
Loosen the 2 lock nuts. Tighten or loosen the
adjustment screws until the belts have the
required tension.

If the V-belt needs replacing, the V-belt must
be completely slackened so that it slides off
the pulley wheels as easily as possible.
When the V-belt has the right tension,
tighten the 4 screws that hold the engine in
place.
Replace the V-belt cover.
