Fit the edge guide shoe (17) in the same way as the
normal shoe.
Note 1: The cross bar (18) can be fitted in two ways:
Fit the cross bar with the sides up for circle cutting.
Fit the cross bar with the sides down for ripping.
Note 2: The guide arm (19) can be mounted on either side of
the shoe (fig. E).
Remove the screw (20).
Rotate the guide arm 180° and refit it on the other side of
the shoe.
Secure the guide arm with the screw, using the other hole
(21).
Use
Setting the cutting speed (fig. F)
Set the speed control wheel (3) to the required speed
range (1 = low speed, 6 = high speed).
Use a high speed for wood, a medium speed for
aluminium, ceramics and PVC and a low speed for metals
other than aluminium.
Note: After using the saw for extended periods on low speeds,
run the saw on high speed for 3 minutes to aid cooling.
Switching on and off (fig. G)
To switch the tool on, press the lock-off button (2) and
squeeze the on/off switch (1).
To switch the tool off, release the on/off switch.
Cutting circles (fig. D & H)
The circle guide can be used to saw out circular patterns.
Fit the circle guide for circle cutting.
The guide arm (19) is marked to allow you to set the cross
bar (18) to the radius of the circle to be cut.
Loosen the knob (22) and slide the cross bar over the
guide arm to the desired position.
Tighten the knob.
Drill a small hole for the point of the pivot knob in the
centre of the circle to be cut.
Drill a second hole where the saw blade will be
positionend or cut inwards from the edge of the
workpiece to get the sawblade into position.
Saw out the circle in a counterclockwise direction. Note:
Left-handed users should saw in a clockwise direction.
Using the edge guide (fig. D & I)
The edge guide can be used to maintain an equal cutting
distance when ripping.
Fit the edge guide for ripping.
Loosen the knob (22) and slide the cross bar (18) over the
guide arm (19) to the desired position.
Tighten the knob.
6
Keep the cross bar pressed firmly against the straight
edge of the workpiece during sawing.
Hints for optimum use
Sawing laminates
As the saw blade cuts on the upward stroke, splintering may
occur on the surface closest to the shoe plate.
Use a fine-tooth saw blade.
Saw from the back surface of the workpiece.
To minimise splintering, clamp a piece of scrap wood or
hardboard to both sides of the workpiece and saw
through this sandwich.
Sawing metal
Be aware that sawing metal takes much more time than
sawing wood.
Use a saw blade suitable for sawing metal. Use a fine-
tooth saw blade for ferrous metals and a coarser saw
blade for nonferrous metals.
When cutting thin sheet metal, clamp a piece of scrap
wood to the back surface of the workpiece and cut
through this sandwich.
Spread a film of oil along the intended line of cut.
Cutting branches
Branches up to 25 mm in diameter can be cut with this tool.
Warning! Do not use the tool while in a tree, on a ladder or
on any other unstable surface. Be aware of where the branch
will fall.
Cut downward and away from your body.
Make the cut close to the main branch or tree body.
