Congratulations!
On your purchase of the EMPHASER audio system dedicated for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. If
you plan on installing this speaker system by yourself, please read the following instructions
carefully before you attempt the installation.
For any further information about this product, please contact your authorized EMPHASER
dealer.
SET CONTENT
Carefully remove the loudspeakers, crossovers and the accessories from the gift box and
check whether all parts are in good undamaged condition, and match with the set contents
listed below:
EM-MBF2

■ 2 Tweeter

■ 1 manual
ASSEMBLY
This set is compatible with a variety of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. For step by step instructions
on how to disassemble the original loudspeakers of your specific vehicle correctly, please
contact your Mercedes-Benz service workshop. The following instructions for the C205
model are to serve as an example for all models.
Loosen the two Torx 30 screws at the point marked with a circle. Using a wide plastic wedge,
carefully pry the door trim from the door panel. Start at the point marked with an arrow and
work piece by piece forward and backward. There is a locking hook at the position marked
with a rectangle. Slide the door upwards to fully release the panel. To obtain more freedom
of movement, unhook the Bowden cable from the door lever. To do this, pull the cover out of
the guide rail and release the hook from the plastic clamp. Finally, disconnect the necessary
cables to completely remove the door trim. Use either a small screwdriver or a paper clip to
unlock the plugs.
Place the panel on a clean, soft surface. The original speaker is plugged in at three points
on the panel. If necessary, use a plastic wedge to lever out the speaker.

EM-MBF2
Place the new EMPHASER speaker on the door panel. Push all three mounting balls into the
mounting holes one by one until they are firmly locked.
Disassemble the tweeter holder in the mirror triangle. If present, remove the original tweeter
and click in the new EMPHASER tweeter.
Run the connection cables of the supplied crossover to the tweeter (TW) and the midrange
speaker (WF). The cable labeled "IN" is to be connected to the vehicle speaker cable that
originally powered the original speaker. Mount the door trim in reverse order.
The crossover has the option of bypassing the integrated high-pass filter if you prefer to drive
the EM-MBF2 via an amplifier with an active filter or a DSP. To do this, simply disconnect
the red and black cable at the input of the crossover. The frequency of the high-pass filter
should be set to approx. 300 Hz.
EM-MBR2
Place the new EMPHASER speaker on the door panel. Push all three mounting balls into the
mounting holes one by one until they are firmly locked.
Run the connection cables of the supplied crossover/highpass filter to the speaker. The
cable labeled "IN" is to be connected to the vehicle speaker cable that originally powered
the original speaker. Mount the door trim in reverse order.
If you use an additional amplifier and prefer to use the integrated active filter, the supplied
crossover is not required. The frequency of the high-pass filter should be set to approx. 300 Hz.
Assemble the door panel in reverse order.
