4. Programming / Inputting personal data

Prior to first use, your personal data – such as sex (female or male), age, and height –
must be entered and saved in one of the memory cells P0 – P9 (for up to 10 people). The
scales make use of highly sensitive sensor buttons (Sensor Touch). The touch keys are
located below the display. To enter your personal data use the buttons: SET (power-on

and memory button),
(plus button),
(quick scan by touching the button for more than 1 second):
1. Gently touch the SET button. Links im Display blinkt die Speicherplatzanzeige (z.B.
P1). To choose the desired memory cell (P0 – P9), touch the - or ‚- button and
then save by touching the SET button.
2. After you have chosen the memory cell (e.g. memory cell P3), the symbol for sex
will blink. In order to choose the desired sex ( male or
‚-button and then save by pressing the SET button.
3. Once you have chosen your sex (e.g.
display (default: 170 cm). In order to enter your height, touch the - or ‚-button
and then save by touching the SET button.
4. Once you have entered your height, the indicator for age blinks on the display
(default age: 25) In order to enter your age, touch the - or ‚- button and then save
by touching the SET button.
Once you have finished entering your data, the scales return to "0.0 kg". The scales are
now ready and you can undertake a body analysis. Without further activity the scales
deactivate automatically after a few seconds. Your personal data has been saved.

5. Weighing function (weight measurement only)

1. The scales have a step-on function. Simply step onto the scales, keep still and do
not hold onto anything.
2. Once the scales have stabilized, your weight will be displayed twice in succession
and then steadily for approx. 10 seconds. The scales then automatically turn off.

6. Body analysis

An analysis is only possible when you are barefoot. The personal data must be entered
beforehand (see section 4).
1. Activate the scales by touching the SET button. Initially, the personal data of the last
setting appears on the display and a few seconds later "0.0 kg". If this is not your
data, choose the memory cell in which you saved your personal data using the -
or ‚-button. Your personal data will be displayed and then the scales return to
"0.0 kg".

2. Now stand carefully on the scales, barefoot with your feet left and right on the stainless
steel strips (measuring units), and remain still.
3. First you will be shown your weight. After that, while the body analysis is being carried
out, the signal "o" will run on the display. Remain standing still. After your
measurements have been taken, the measured values will be shown to you twice on
the display, as follows:
1. Your weight in kg
2. BF
= your body-fat proportion in %
3. BW
=
your body water in %
4. BON = your bone mass in kg
5. MUS = your muscle mass in %
6. KCAL = your basal metabolic rate (daily calorie consumption)
The scales will switch off automatically after a few seconds.
You can display the values of your most recent measurements, once you have completed
your initial analysis process. Simply select your assigned memory location (1-12) as
described under step 1. The memory location display will stop flashing after a few
seconds, and the display will show "0.0 kg". You can now press to start the automatic
display of your most recent measurement values (the values are shown in sequence),
while pressing or ‚ will allow you to select the values manually. Pressing the SET
button will return the display to analysis mode.
The percentage of body fat shows the percentage of fat in relation to the total weight of a
body. There is no general recommendation for this value, since this depends significantly
on gender (due to the different physique) and age. Body fat is vital for the daily body
functions. It protects organs, cushions joints, regulates body temperature, stores vitamins
and acts as an energy storage for the body. With the exception of athletes, a body fat
percentage for women between 10 % and 13 % and for men between 2 % and 5 % is
seen as vital.
The percentage of body fat is not a clear indicator for health. A body weight and
a percentage of body fat, which are too high, are related to many diseases of civilization
such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc. A lack of exercise and the wrong diet are
the most common causes for these diseases. There is a clear causal connection between
being overweight and a lack of exercise.
A significant part of the human body consists of water. This body water has a different
distribution throughout the body. Lean muscle tissue contains about 75 % water, blood
approx. 83 % water, body fat approx. 25 % water and the bones have a water percentage
of about 22 %. Water makes up approx. 60 % of men's body mass. The value for women
is about 55 % (due to the higher percentage of body fat). Of this total amount of body
water, approx. two thirds are stored in the cells and is therefore called intracellular water.
The remaining third is extracellular water.
