FOOD SAFETY:
• Thoroughly defrost frozen meat and
poultry in the refrigerator before
cooking. Keep raw meat and poultry
separate from prepared food.
• Always wash your hands after holding
raw meat and poultry before handling
any other food.
• Wipe and disinfect surfaces that have
been in contact with raw meat and
poultry.
• Make sure the barbecue is hot when
barbecuing meat and poultry.
• Place the larger, thicker pieces farthest
from the most intense heat to obtain
thoroughly cooked meat and poultry
and to prevent burning. Turn the food
regularly on the grill.
• Use separate grill tools (such as the grill
pliers/spatula/skewer/fork) for handling
raw meat and poultry and cooked food
on the barbecue, or wash the grill tools
thoroughly during use.
• To check whether meat, in particular
poultry, is well cooked, pierce the meat
with a skewer or a fork; the juices must
be clear.
Make sure the meat (and poultry) is
piping hot.
