Important safety instructions:

Caution:
To protect against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed including the following:
1. Read and follow all safety advice.
2. Caution: Since equipment for ponds and aquariums comes into contact with water, particular care is needed to avoid an
electric shock. Should one of the following situations arise, do not repair the appliance yourself. The appliance must be
repaired by an authorised specialist or disposed of:
a)
If the appliance has fallen into the water, do not reach after it! First disconnect the appliance from the mains
before retrieving it. If parts of the appliance carrying live current become wet, the appliance must be disconnected
from the mains immediately.
b)
Carefully check the appliance after installation. There should be no water on parts which are not intended for
contact with water.
c)
Do not use the appliance if the cable, plug or power supply unit are damaged. The appliance should not be used if
it is damaged, has been dropped or is malfunctioning.
d)
The appliance should be placed next to a wall socket in such a position that no water can splash onto the socket,
plug or power supply unit. The power cable of the appliance or the cable leading from the power supply unit
should form a "drip loop" to prevent any water running along the cable from reaching the mains socket. Never
touch the socket, plug or power supply unit should these become wet! First switch off the electric circuit to which
the appliance is connected (safety switch), before disconnecting the plug or power supply unit. Check all parts for
water.
3. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental
abilities or without experience and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or
instructed by that person on how to use the appliance.
Keep electrical appliances out of reach from Children or infirm persons. Do not let them use the appliances without
supervision.
4. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
The appliance is not to be used by children and young adolescents under the age of 16 years.
5. To avoid injury, do not touch any moving or hot parts.
6. Always disconnect the appliance from the power supply when not in use, before installing or removing parts or before
cleaning. The plug should never be pulled out of the socket by the cable, always hold the plug or power supply unit to
disconnect.
7. The appliance should not be used for anything other than its intended purpose. The use of accessories or parts not
recommended by the manufacturer can lead to dangerous situations or loss of warranty.
8. Do not operate the appliance in frost. Do not store in areas at risk from frost.
9. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person
in order to avoid a hazard.
10. Check that the appliance has been safely installed before putting into operation.
11. If an extension cable is used, care should be taken that the cable diameter is correct. The cable may overheat if the
diameter is too small. The cable should be laid in such a way that no one can trip over it or unintentionally disconnect it
from the mains.
12. Switch off the appliance if no water is flowing through it.
13. The appliance should only be used in an aquarium or garden pond.
14. Before working on the appliance or in the aquarium or pond, all electrical appliances must be disconnected from the
power supply.
15. The appliance or its ballast must never be installed above the surface of water.
16. This appliance produces UV-C radiation which can cause damage to the eyes and skin. The lamp should therefore never
be used outside the appliance.
17. In order to avoid an electric shock, never immerse the appliance, mains plug or mains cable in water or any other liquid.
18. The appliance is to be supplied through a residual current device (RCD) having a rated residual operating current not
exceeding 30 mA.
19. The appliance must not be used when people are in water.
20. These instructions should be kept in a safe place.
