Before use
The fresh air system may only be operated if in flawless condition.
Before each use, the vehicle driver must perform a visual inspection to
ensure that the fresh air system is functioning and ready for use. He/
she must ensure the following:
All openings (doors, windows, etc.) are closed.
The compressed air cylinder is full.
The hose is correctly connected onto the hose nipple and there are
no external signs of damage.
The pressure reducer handwheel is tightened hand-tight (5 Nm).
The system shows no signs of external damage.
6
Use
Actuate the device (e.g. by pressing a switch, to be provided by the
customer).
The positive pressure in the room must rise within a few seconds and
must be checked on the differential pressure gauge (if fitted) in the
vehicle.
The positive pressure can only be built up if:
1
All the openings are closed,
2
There are no leaks,
3
The fresh air system discharges air.
Dräger recommends a differential pressure of at least 100 to 300 Pa.
Depending on the vehicle concept, the value is up to 500 Pa (5 mbar)
above the ambient pressure.
Any faults must be rectified immediately. The fresh air system may
only be operated again after the faults have been rectified.
WARNING
!
Hazard from lack of supply with fresh air. The fresh air supply
can only be released once. If no positive pressure builds up,
no protection is offered against contaminated ambient air. In
this event, use alternative respiratory protection measures.

Servicing
NOTICE
i
i
All maintenance work must be carried out by Dräger and
authorised expert personnel.
All hoses and connections must be subjected to an annual visual
inspection.
The fresh air system must be replaced in full 10 years after the date of
initial commissioning (see label on the compressed air cylinder).
In addition, the compressed air cylinder must be checked for signs of
external damage, such as scratches on the paintwork or rust, on a
yearly basis.
The fresh air system may only be operated if in flawless condition. In
cases of doubt, contact Dräger or authorised Dräger experts.
