3. Remove the spark plug using a spark plug wrench.
DO NOT USE ANY OTHER TOOL.
4. Put in a new spark plug; gap: 0.653 mm.
CARBURETTOR SETTINGS
The carburettor was set to optimum performance by the
manufacturer. If readjustments should become necessary
take the saw to a qualified service technician to have this
work done.
STORING THE CHAIN SAW
If you do not use a chain saw for more than 30 days the
device must be prepared for storage. Otherwise the fuel
mixture remaining in the carburettor volatilises and
leaves a rubber-like residue. This may make it difficult to
start the engine and result in expensive repair work.
ATTENTION ! Do not store a chain saw for more than 30
days without taking the measures listed below.
1. Slowly remove the fuel tank cap to release possible
pressure from the tank. Carefully drain the tank.
2. Start the engine and let it run until it stops by itself to
remove the fuel remaining in the carburettor.
3. Let the engine cool down (approx. 5 minutes).
4. Remove the spark plug using a spark plug wrench.
5. Put 1 tea spoon of clean 2-stroke oil into the combus-
tion chamber. Slowly pull the starter rope several times
to lubricate the internal components. Put the spark plug
back in (Fig. 22).
NOTE: Store the saw in dry place well away from possible
sources of fire, e.g., ovens, hot water boilers with gas, gas
dryers etc.
PUTTING THE SAW INTO OPERATION AGAIN
1. Remove the spark plug.
2. Quickly pull the starter rope to remove excess oil
from the combustion chamber.
3. Clean the spark plug and verify that it has the proper
gap; if required, put in a new plug with the proper spark
plug gap.
4. Prepare the saw for use.
5. Fill the tank with the proper fuel/oil mixture. See the
section FUEL AND OIL.
ATTENTION ! The nose wheel of a new chain has already
been lubricated by the manufacturer. If you do not
lubricate the nose wheel as follows the sharpness of the
tools and thus the saw performance will be reduced and
will lead to you loosing your warranty rights.
The nose wheel should be lubricated after 10 hours of
operation or once a week depending on which of the two
options occurs first. Please thoroughly clean the nose
wheel before lubrication.
TOOLS FOR LUBRICATION
For the lubrication of the nose wheel, a lubricating syringe
(optional) is recommended. The lubricating syringe has a
needle tip that is required to apply oil to the toothed tip.
LUBRICATING THE NOSE WHEEL
ATTENTION ! Wear rugged protective gloves when
handling the guiding bar and chain.
1. Slide the STOP switch down.
NOTE: To lubricate the nose wheel of the guiding bar
it is not required to remove the chain. Lubrication can

2. Clean the teeth of the nose wheel.
3. Put the needle tip of the lubricating syringe (optional)
4. Turn the saw chain manually. Repeat the lubrication
MAINTENANCE OF THE BAR
Most problems with the bar can be avoided, if the chain
saw is well maintained.
An insufficiently lubricated bar and the operation of the
saw with a chain that is TOO TIGHT contribute to the fast
wear of the guiding bar.
To reduce the wear of the bar the following steps for its
maintenance are recommended.
SHARPENING THE CHAIN – The chain pitch (Fig. 24) is
3/8 inches/LoPro x 0.050 inches.
Sharpen the chain using protective gloves and a round
file (4.8 mm).
Sharpen the edges exclusively with movements directed
away from the chain (Fig. 25) and observe the values
given in Fig. 24.
After sharpening, the cutting links must all be of the
same width and length.
3 – 4 times after each sharpening of the cutting edges,
the height of the depth control must be verified and, if
required, reduced using a flat file and the optional gauge;
the front edge must be filed round (Fig. 26).
BAR – The bar must be reversed every 8 hours of
operation to ensure an even wear.
Always use cleaner for bar grooves to clean the bar
groove and the lubricating hole (Fig. 27).
Regularly check the sliding surface for signs of wear,
remove burrs, and level the sliding surface with a flat file,
if required (Fig. 28).
WEAR OF THE BAR – Reverse the bar in regular intervals
(e.g. every 5 working hours) to ensure that the bar gets
evenly worn out at both edges.
OIL DUCTS – Oil ducts on the bar should be cleaned to
ensure the proper lubrication of the bar and chain during
operation.
NOTE: The condition of the oil ducts can be easily
verified. If the ducts are clean the chain oil will automati-
cally spray off the chain a few seconds after the chain
saw has been started. The saw is equipped with an
automatic lubrication system.

be done during work.
into the lubricating hole and push the oil into the hole
until it comes out at the outer edge of the teeth (Fig.
23).
process until all teeth are lubricated.
ATTENTION ! Always wear protective gloves when
carrying out maintenance work. Do not maintain the
saw when the engine is still hot.
ATTENTION ! A sharp chain produces well-shaped
chips. If the chain produces sawdust it needs sharp-
ening.
ATTENTION ! The right height of the depth control is
as important as a properly sharpened chain.
ATTENTION ! Never assemble a new chain on a worn
out nose wheel or a defective guiding bar.
