Energy Management

The models of this product that include a duplex unit are ENERGY STAR Qualified and have
been tested to meet the 2007 requirements for the ENERGY STAR Certified logo. A duplex
option is available for this printer and is recommended for best conservation of natural
resources by automatically using both sides of the paper. This printer has two modes of power
saving. They are Power Saver mode and Sleep mode. In Power Saver mode the printer
reduces energy consumption by allowing the fuser to cool. In Sleep mode, there is further
energy reduction by turning off electronics to motors, options, and the operator panel. A flash-
ing green LED on the operator panel indicates the printer is in Sleep mode. As shipped from
the factory, the default delay time after printing until the printer automatically enters Power
Saver mode is 10 minutes, and the default delay time after printing until the printer automati-
cally enters Sleep mode is 60 minutes. The delay time to Power Saver mode can be adjusted
by the user from 5 to 60 minutes. The delay time to Sleep mode can be adjusted from 60 to 120
minutes. There is no command for the user to disable either of the energy saving modes. In
order to conserve natural resources, it is recommended the delay times be as short as practi-
cal. The recovery time from Power Saver mode is 42 seconds. The recovery time from Sleep
mode is 45 seconds at room temperature. The printer will automatically wake up from Power
Saver mode or Sleep mode when data is received to be printed or when the Start/Stop button
on the operator control panel is pressed. In Sleep mode, this printer will consume less than 10
Watts.
Typical Energy Consumption (TEC) for this printer is 8.92 kWh/Week or less.
