Compass with LED lamp

This product complies with the national and European legal requirements.
Intended use
The compass with LED light is used to display the cardinal direction and acts as a mobile household light
source.
This product is not suitable for commercial/industrial use.
The product is designed for battery operation only. Do not use any other power supply. The correct battery
type is specifi ed in the "Technical data" section.
Any use other than the one described above is not allowed and can damage the product. In addition, it can
lead to dangers such as short-circuit, fi re and electrical shock.
Read the operating instructions carefully and keep them for later reference.
The safety instructions have to be followed without fail.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting damage.
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper use
or non-compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases, the warranty will be null
and void.
An exclamation mark inside a triangle points out important instructions in the operating
manual.
The "hand" symbol indicates special information and advice on operating the device.
• For safety reasons, any unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cation to the product is not
permitted.
• Avoid exposure to the following:
- heavy mechanical loads
- extreme temperatures
- Strong vibrations
- Strong magnetic or electric fi elds
• If you have any doubts about the correct operation, or the safety of the product, please consult a specialist.
• Keep the product and the batteries out of the reach of children. This product is not a toy.
• Do not leave packaging materials unattended. It may become a dangerous plaything for children.
• The manufacturer does not accept any liability for incorrect or inaccurate readings or any consequences
resulting from such readings.
• Please observe the additional safety instructions in the individual chapters of this manual.
Description of the Features

• Back-lit LED lighting of the compass scale for good visibility even in dark places
Inserting / replacing batteries
Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
Ensure that the polarity is correct, when inserting the batteries.
Remove the batteries, if you are not going to use the device for a while, to prevent dam-
age from leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries can cause acid
burns upon contact with the skin. Thus, you should wear protective gloves when han-
dling damaged batteries.
Keep the batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave batteries lying around, as
they may be swallowed by children or pets.
The batteries must not be short-circuited or thrown into a fi re. Do not attempt to recharge
the batteries. There is a risk of explosion.
• If the light intensity of the LED lamp or the scale illumination becomes weaker, the batteries must be
changed.
• Screw the round battery compartment cover on to the rear of the device beneath the spring hook.
• Remove the battery cover.
• Remove the discharged button cells from the battery compartment and insert three new 1.5 V AG13 but-
ton cells in the battery compartment. Observe the correct polarity. The correct polarity is indicated in the
battery compartment.
• Close the battery compartment again. Make sure that the fl ap of the battery compartment cover is inserted
properly into the groove of the housing.

• Hold the compass in the horizontal position. The compass needle must be able to rotate freely.

• Align the black line of the compass scale towards your destination route.
• Turn the index ring until the orange "0" on the scale coincides with the orange tip of the compass needle.
• You can now read your destination route on the compass scale.
• Press the BACKLIGHT button, to turn on the illumination of the compass scale.
• Press the TORCH button, to turn on the LED lamp.
Maintenance and Care
Apart from replacing the battery, the device requires no maintenance.
The outside should only be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth or a brush.
Never use caustic cleaning agents or chemical solutions, as they could damage the surface of the case.
Disposal
Disposal of used batteries/storage batteries
You thereby fulfi l your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.

Do not use the compass in the vicinity of metal surfaces or electronic devices. The compass
display could be impaired by interference or shielding of the earth's magnetic fi eld.
Electronic devices are recyclable waste materials and must not be disposed of in the household
waste!
Dispose of the unserviceable product according to the relevant statutory regulations!
Remove any inserted battery and dispose of it separately from the product.
The end user is legally obliged (Battery Regulation) to return used batteries and rechargeable
batteries. Do not dispose of used batteries in the household waste!
Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols to indicate that
disposal in the household waste is forbidden. The symbols for the relevant heavy metals are:
Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (marking can be seen on the battery/rechargeable battery,
e.g., underneath the refuse bin symbol shown on the left).
You can return used (rechargeable) batteries free of charge at the offi cial collection points in
your municipality, our stores, or wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold!
