The following instructions will allow you to set
up your KVM series2 system easily.
Should you require assistance, please consult your
installer/user guide.

Turn off the servers,
switches and the KVM
series2-1602 appliance.

Turn off your systems
and attach the
appropriate power cord.
Optimal screen resolution
For an optimal screen resolution of 1280x1024, limit the
cable length between the switch and the attached servers
to 15 meters. Cable lengths greater than 15 meters will
limit screen resolution.
To connect the KVM series2-1602 / 0801 hardware:

Connecting power to the KVM
series2-1602 / 0801
Turn off all computers that will be attached to your KVM se-
ries2 appliance. Plug the supplied power cord into the KVM
series2 power socket on the rear of the unit. Plug the other
end into an appropriate AC power source.

Connecting the analog ports
Plug your VGA monitor, keyboard and PS/2 mouse cables
into the analog user port sets located on the rear of the KVM
series2 unit.

Connecting a KVM series2-Adapter to the
KVM series2-1602 / 0801
Choose an available port, labeled 1-16, located on the rear of
the KVM series2-1602 unit (or ports labeled 1-8 on the rear of
the 0801 unit). Plug one end of a CAT 5 cable, up to 98.5 feet
(30 meters), into a numbered port and plug the other end into
the RJ45 connector of a KVM series2-Adapter.

Connecting a device to a KVM series2-Adapter
Plug the KVM series2-Adapter monitor, keyboard and mouse
connectors into the appropriate ports on the back of either a
server or a compatible switch. Repeat this procedure for all
devices that are to be connected to the KVM series2-1602 / 0801.

a CAT 5 cable, you can cascade to
a KVM series2-1611, 1602 or 0801

Turning on the servers, switches and appliance
While the components can be turned on in any order, we rec-
ommend turning on the servers fi rst and then all other units.
