Operating Instructions
Infrared motion sensor
Item no. 2108039
Intended Use
This product uses passive infrared (PIR) motion detection to trigger a connected load such as a lamp. You
can set a switch-on time to control how long the connected load stays on, and adjust the switching threshold
based on ambient light levels.
It is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture, e.g. in bathrooms, must be
avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product
for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use
can result in short circuits, fires, electric shocks or other hazards. Read the instructions carefully and store
them in a safe place. Make this product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.
This product complies with the statutory national and European requirements. All company names and
product names are trademarks of their respective owners. All rights reserved.

Explanation of Symbols
The symbol with the lightning in the triangle is used if there is a risk to your health, e.g. due to an
electric shock.
The symbol with the exclamation mark in the triangle is used to indicate important information in
these operating instructions. Always read this information carefully.
The arrow symbol indicates special information and advice on operation.
This is a safety class II product.
The product is only intended to be installed and used in dry, indoor rooms; it must not get damp
or wet.
Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information.
If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this
manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property.
Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
a) General Information
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing
material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity,
moisture, flammable gases, steam and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it
from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage
the product.
• When using tools to install the product, observe the manufacturers' safety precautions.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the appliance.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs must only be completed by a technician or an
authorised repair centre.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our
technical support service or other technical personnel.
b) Electrical Connection
If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not connect and install it
yourself. Ask a qualified technician.
• The product may only run on the correct mains voltage (see section "Technical data").
• Do not use the product in rooms with adverse environmental conditions, where combustible
gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! There is a risk of explosion!
• If it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, the product must be turned off
and precautions must be taken to ensure that it is not used unintentionally. After this, arrange
for an expert to check the product.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's Liability
Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Facilities are to be observed!
• By handling mains voltage improperly, you endanger not only yourself but also others!
c) Location
• Do not position the device near sources of heat. For example, hot ventilation ducts, air
conditioning units, or lamps.
• When drilling or tightening screws, make sure there are no cables, wires or pipes located
underneath the surface. Inadvertently drilling through electric cables can cause life-threatening
danger of an electric shock!
d) Installation
• The motion detector must be installed only when it is voltage-free. It is not sufficient to simply
turn the light switch off!
• First, switch off all poles of the mains supply by removing the fuse or switching off at the
circuit breaker, also switch off the associated residual current circuit breaker. Secure it against
unauthorised reconnection, e.g., with a danger sign.
• Check that the mains cable is free of current, e.g. with an appropriate tester.
• Installation of the product must be carried out by a qualified professional (i.e. an electrician)
who is familiar with all applicable regulations!

Features of the PIR Motion Sensor
The PIR sensor reacts to changes in temperature, e.g. when a person or animal enters the detection range
whose temperature is different from the ambient temperature.
To ensure optimal detection, the motion sensor should be placed so that the object does not move towards
the PIR sensor, but rather from left to right (or vice versa) across the detection range.
Mounting height.
The difference between the temperature of the moving object and the ambient temperature.
The size of the object.
The distance of the object from the motion sensor.
The direction and speed of the movement
Ambient temperature
The horizontal detection range is 360°. This range applies for installation heights of 2.2 to 4 m. Depending
on the ambient conditions, the actual range may be shorter.

Do not point the PIR sensor (5) at radiators, lights or objects with varying temperatures (e.g. electronic
equipment), as this may cause the sensor to be triggered unintentionally. In addition, do not point the
PIR sensor (5) at objects that may move due to the flow of air. The motion sensor does not detect
temperature changes through glass.

Installation

Contact a qualified technician if in doubt about how to connect the motion detector to a load. For
example, to control a lamp.
Before installation, switch the electricity supply and corresponding circuit breaker and/or
automatic fuse OFF.
The installation comprises of two parts: electrical connection and mounting.
a) Switch the Power Supply OFF
Secure against unauthorized restart, e.g. by installing a warning sign.
Check the power circuit for remaining voltage using an appropriate measuring device.
Pay attention to the "Safety Instructions" section.
b) Connect Power Supply Leads
Remove the outer insulation on the wires to
a maximum length of about 16 mm.
Strip the insulation on each main cable wire to a length
of about 6 mm.
