Remote Stop User Guide
Function
The Remote Stop Module is a functional addition to
an electric wheelchair that can be used to switch off
the wheelchair's joystick function remotely (within a
certain distance) using a hand-held transmitter.
If the wheelchair is moving when the joystick function
is switched off, the wheelchair brakes and comes to a
standstill. This braking distance corresponds with the
braking distance expected by the wheelchair user.
After the wheelchair controls have been blocked, they
can be unblocked using the hand-held transmitter
(see Operation).
The blockage cannot be cancelled by switching the
wheelchair controller on and off. It can only be done
using the hand-held transmitter.
WARNING
The Remote Stop Module is not a safety mechanism
and may therefore not be used as an emergency stop
device.
If the safety of persons depends on blocking the
driving function, besides the Remote Stop Module
there should also be another way of stopping the
wheelchair in order to intervene on time.
Use
The Remote Stop module consists of a hand-held
transmitter and a receiver. The hand-held transmitter
is supplied in a separate package with the wheelchair.
When using the hand-held transmitter for the first
time:

Remove the transmitter from the packaging

Check that the wheelchair batteries are charged
(see the enclosed Wheelchair User Guide for
instructions)

Switch on the wheelchair using the ON button on
the wheelchair controller* (5)

The hand-held transmitter is equipped with two
identical buttons (6). The buttons have the same
functionality.

Test the hand-held transmitter by pressing the
control button (6).

An icon of a red tortoise (7) then appears on the
display of the wheelchair controller.

The wheelchair is now blocked. The wheelchair
user can no longer operate the wheelchair using
the joystick.

You can unblock the wheelchair by pressing the
control button (6) again.

The icon of the red tortoise has now disappeared
from the display of the wheelchair controller.

The wheelchair user can now use the wheelchair
again.
-
After you have followed these instructions, the
system is ready for use.
Operation
The Remote Stop module consists of a hand-held
transmitter and a receiver built into the wheelchair.
You can use the transmitter to block the operation of
the wheelchair and then unblock it again. You can only
unblock the wheelchair with the hand-held transmitter.
The remote control is fitted with a control button (6)
that you can use to switch the wheelchair on and off.
Caution!
Remember that there may be a time delay between
operating the hand-held transmitter and blocking the
operation of the electric wheelchair.
