1 Directions for use Ubbink BioClear 20000 & 30000 three-chamber filter
Notes on safety
• The directions for use for the pump used by you, together with the BioClear pond filter as well as a possible UV-C device (both not included in the scope of delivery), are to be
strictly adhered to.
• The device is not suitable for the use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or intellectual capabilities or who are defective in experience and knowledge,
unless such persons are monitored by a person responsible for their safety or have received instructions concerning the utilization of the device. Children are to be monitored in
order to ensure that they do not play with the device.
Utilization according to specification
The BioClear three-chamber filter is a biological filter which ensures the quality of the pond water and provides for a good biological equilibrium in your pond. With the employment of
a UV-C device (not included in the scope of delivery), the pond water is filtered and disinfected simultaneously. The difference in levels between the water surface of the pond and the
pond filter is to be considered in the pump selection.
This product is designed exclusively for private employment in garden ponds
Operational startup
• Select a location for your BioClear filter near, or in the proximity of, your pond, which is still readily accessible for you with regard to later maintenance of the filter. For the
development of its full performance, the pond filter should, as far as possible, be placed at a location which offers shadow and/or penumbra during the day.
• Note that the pond filter is horizontal and somewhat raised on the compacted underground, so that the outlet valve to the dirty water drain is freely accessible.
• The filter media are supplied as loose items in the filter. Before the filter assembly, you must remove these from the filter.
• The filter inlet consists of a hose nozzle (A1) with nut (A2) and sealing ring (A3), which must be fixed on the inlet (A). Route the hose nozzle with placed-on sealing ring through
the wall opening and tighten hand-tight with the nut on the inner side.
• The filter outlet (B) consists of a container throughput passage (B1) with counter-flange (B2) and sealing ring (B3), which is fixed on the outlet opening with the bolt (B4). Use the
longer bolts supplied instead of the shorter standard bolts.
• Bond the supplied PVC pipe with the aid of hard-PVC adhesive with the part (B1). If you have selected a location for the filter which is not in pond proximity, the outlet can be
extended with a matching hose or PVC piping, so that the water flows back into the pond again. In this case, attention must be paid to a stress-free installation of hose and PVC
piping.
• The dirt drain-off can be implemented at one of the three openings of the sludge-collection areas. Screw the outlet connection (C1) to the opening preferred by you, and close the
two other openings with the dummy plugs (C2). A little amount of Teflon tape can be employed for additional sealing.
• Bond the supplied outlet valve (C3) to the outlet (G) with the aid of hard-PVC adhesive. As appropriate, lay a hose or PVC piping from the drain cock to the sewage system or
another location.
• Insert the two pipes (F) into the openings between the filter walls planned for that. As long as the filter is in operation, the pipes must remain installed.
• Insert the filter media removed at the beginning into the individual filter chambers.

• Now prepare the pump selected by you for connection with the BioClear pond filter or a UV-C device installed between pump and pond filter. It is absolutely necessary that you
note the directions for use of the pump and the UV-C device, as well as the manufacturer's directives on the minimum water depth of the pump in this case. The pump should
always be set up in the pond on a fixed base, free from sludge and sand.
