4.2.2 Checking and cleaning of soldering bit
1） Set the temperature to 250℃ .
2） After the temperature is stable, clean the soldering bit with cleaning sponge, and check the condition of the soldering iron.
3） If there are black oxides on the tin-coated part of the soldering bit, coat a new layer of tin and wipe the soldering bit with cleaning
sponge. Repeatedly clean in this way until the oxides are completely removed, and then coat a new layer of tin.
4） Always replace the deformed or seriously corroded with a new one.
4.2.3 Recovery of non-wetting soldering bit
1） Why it is not allowed to use a "non-wetting" soldering bit?
The "non-wetting" soldering bit cannot be wetted by soldering tin and the exposed tin coating is oxidized to cause the failure of its
heat transfer.
2） The reasons for the "non-wetting" soldering bit are as follows:
a. The soldering bit is not coated with new soldering tin before the soldering station will be out of use for a long time;
b. The soldering bit is used at a high temperature
c. It is not fully melted during soldering.
d. The soldering bit is wiped with a dry or dirty sponge or cloth（it is required to use a clean and wet industrial grade sulfur-free
sponge）.
e. IThe solder or the iron coating is not pure, or the soldered surface is not clean.
3） Recovery of a non-wetting soldering bit
a. IRemove the soldering bit from the soldering iron handle after the soldering bit is cooled down.
b. IRemove dirt and oxides on the tin coating of the soldering bit with 80# polyurethane abrasive foam or 100# emery paper.
c. IPut the soldering bit into the handle, use the tin wire containing rosin（Φ0.8 mm or above）to wrap new exposed surface of
the bit and turn on the power supply of the soldering station.
aution:
*Do not use a file to remove oxides on the soldering bit.
*Proper daily maintenance will effectively prevent the soldering bit from non-wetting.
