When the battery is completely empty, the message Battery is flat
appears on the display. The radio emits a long, low-pitched beep and
then stops working. Turn off the radio.

Charging the battery

Charging a battery for the first time
If you are charging a battery for the first time, the way you charge
your battery depends on the battery chemistry. Allow 14 hours for a
NiMH battery, and 2.5 hours for a Li-ion battery.
Li-ion batteries
Fully charge a Li-ion battery before using it for the first time. This will
take up to 2.5 hours.
The red (middle) LED stays lit while the battery charges.
NiMH batteries
Fully charge ('prime') a new NiMH battery before using it for the first
time. Priming takes up to 14 hours and is most effective if completed
without interruption.
Priming takes place between 41 °F and 113 °F
(5 °C and 45 °C).
Notice Tait recommends that you use a desktop
charger or multicharger, not the vehicle charger, to
prime a battery.
The red (middle) LED flashes while the battery is
priming. If possible, do not interrupt charging until the green LED
is lit.
Charging a battery
1 Desktop charger: Connect the charger to the correct Tait power
adaptor.
Multicharger and vehicle charger: Power on the charger.
Initially, all three LEDs are lit for 2 seconds.
2 Place just a battery in the charger, or a radio with a battery
attached. There is no need to remove a belt clip, antenna, or any
accessory that is attached to the accessory connector.
Notice For best charging performance, switch off the radio before
placing it in the charger.
