Parameters Description
VPI Virtual path identifier
VCI Virtual circuit identifier
Username Username assigned or verified by your
service provider
Password Password to allow login with your username
Encapsulation The PPPoE or PPPoA mode support VCMUX
Mode and LLC encapsulation mode which are
described as below.
LLC This mode allows multiple protocol running
over one virtual circuit with a little bit more
overhead
VCMUX This mode allows only one protocol running
per virtual circuit with less overhead
PPP There are CHAP and PAP mechanism support
authentication for password encryption.
CHAP Challenge Handshake Access Protocol encrypts
the password through DES/MD5 algorithm
which provides more secure mechanism
PAP Use plain text as password format with less
security mechanism
NAPT Network Address Port Translation
Besides the VPI/VCI parameters, the following must be specified and provided by
your service provider.
1.Login user name and password
2.PPP encapsulation modes: LLC or VCMUX.
3.PPP Authentication: CHAP or PAP.
NAPT should always be ON for PPPoE or PPPoA.
Note: To save the settings, select " Save Configuration" and then click " Save".
