Initial use

Inserting battery
If present, pull the battery insulating strip
off the battery compartment cover or re-
move the battery's protective film and in-
sert the battery according to the polarity.
For instructions on removing and reinsert-
ing the battery, refer to Chapter "Replacing
batteries", page 15.
Changing the weight unit
The scale can display the values in the
weight units g (grams) or lb/oz
(pounds/ounces). The factory default set-
ting is grams. You can set the unit as fol-
lows:
• When the scale is switched off, hold
down the ON/OFF/TARA button for a-
bout 3 seconds. The units switch.
• Release the button when you see the
desired unit.
Setting up the scale
Set up the scale on a level and solid sur-
face. A solid surface is a prerequisite for a
correct measurement.
