Read the complete manual before attempting installation and activating the system.
1. DESCRIPTION
The shutter unit controls motor-driven systems such as shutters and sunblinds. The shutter unit operates both in
centralized and decentralized installations (fig. 1) and fits into any DIN-rail distribution board (14U wide). The unit
has its own galvanically isolated power supply, a special output for the bus cable, a detection circuit, diagnosis
functions, an EEPROM-memory, programming keys, a microprocessor, relays and indicator lamps for all func-
tions. The shutter unit has two separate prewired circuits with 6 N.O. interlocked relay output contacts each (2
x 3 motors). The memory is non-volatile and does not need a battery back-up in case of a power failure. It can
always be reprogrammed and exchanged without opening the unit (EEPROM).

2. OPERATION AND USE

If more outputs are required, several modules can be connected in parallel (fig. 2). Take into account the bus
polarity. Output B1 of the first module should be connected with output B1 of the other module. One of the
modules then takes over the power supply for the bus, while the power supply of the other modules is switched
off automatically. The different functions of the bus push buttons can be programmed with the 'mode'-key. The
output terminals contains the neutral and the switched phase. After a power cut, the outputs remain disabled
(the motor is no longer controlled) for safety reasons. The module also has 2 binary 230V-outputs, which can
be used both as 'switch input' as well as 'enable function' input.
2.1. Start-up function
Briefly press the 'select'-key to automatically select the outputs. Press long (>1s), to temporarily switch on
the output:
• if the bus has not been installed yet;
• to control the outputs in case of a failure on the bus (short circuit or circuit break);
• to test or locate output circuits.
2.2. Programming the start-up function
1. Switch on the mains supply of the roller-blind module.
2. Briefly (< 1.6s) press the 'program'-key to enter programming mode.
3. Press the 'select'-key to select the correct outputs.
4. Select the appropriate mode for these outputs by pressing the 'mode'-key.
5. Link the outputs to the control by pressing it.
6. Again briefly (< 1.6s) press the 'program'-key to exit programming mode.
2.3. Diagnosis function
During normal operation (not during programming), there is a continuous diagnosis feedback on the 'mode'-
LEDs:
M1 lights when receiving a correct Nikobus-telegram (blinks in case of wrong data)
M2 blinks in case of short circuit or bus polarization errors (e.g. exchange of bus polarity between 2 modules)
M3 blinks in case of errors of the bus power supply (bus power supply circuit error)
M4 blinks in case of a memory communication error (e.g. EEPROM-error) or if a wrong type of module is used
(e.g. memory of a switching unit in a shutter unit).
2.4. External 230V-inputs with 'logical' functions
The 230V-inputs 'A' and 'B' can be used both as 'switch-input' as well as 'enable function input'.
2.4.1. Used as switch input
- The outputs react on the input changes, depending on the mode.
- The action is always carried out, independent of what is happening on the bus.
- The signal of these inputs has priority over the Nikobus-telegram.
- After a power failure, the functions are carried out according to the status of these inputs.
These inputs can also be programmed by means of the logical 'AND' function. A sundblind can e.g. go down
when both the time switch and the light sensor are 'ON'.
2.4.2. Used as enable function
During programming, a separate condition can be sent via a seperate external 230V-input. The action will or
will not be executed, depending on the status of the input. A shutter can e.g. go down via a bus push button if
a twighlight switch 'reports' that it is dark.
2.5. Central functions with operating time (1 to 3s, for mode M6 and M7)
The operating time can be set between 1 and 3s. A first application can be for security reasons, e.g. press a bus
push button for 2s to make all shutters go up. Another application: assign several actions to one push button
in function of the operating time.

M8 has no function and can not be selected.
When programming an interface, the module only takes into account the left part of the push button. The interface
is automatically programmed as an open/close-function.
2.6. Time selection
The time for opening or closing a shutter is longer than the actual running time (95% of the shutters have a
running time of ±30s, the max. running time is 75s).
- A time function can be set for all modes. By setting the time, the running time of the shutter motor can be
