1. Switch on the computer
- Turn your computer on.
Make sure that your computer's Wi-Fi is switched on.
Windows: Menu > Settings > Wireless and networks (or Network and Internet) > Wi-Fi settings (or Network). On a notebook, the Wi-Fi LED should be lit.
MacOS: Menu bar > Apple > System settings > Network > Wi-Fi > Activate Wi-Fi > Show Wi-Fi status in the menu bar
2. Switch on the printed circuit boards (PCB)
- With the sliding switch, switch on the primary printed circuit board (PCB) (Later positioned centrally in the electricity room).
- Switch on the secondary PCB with the sliding switch (Later positioned on one side of the machine room).
The LED on each PCB lights up briefly.
The access point [Hotspot] of the primary PCB sets up the Wi-Fi network »FALLERWIFI1X«.
3. Configure Wi-Fi network
- At the right side of your computer screen, click on the network symbol in the task bar.
Note: Make network symbol visible.
Windows: Right-click on task bar > Task bar settings > Select symbols to be displayed in task bar > Network symbol on
MacOS: Menu bar > Apple > System preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Show Wi-Fi status in the menu bar
Note: You may need to unplug any Ethernet cable from your computer.
All Wi-Fi networks in range will be displayed.
- Search for the Wi-Fi network »FALLERWIFI1X« and click on »Connect«.
The computer and the primary PCB are now connected.
4. Configure container crane controls
- Start your browser.
- Enter the following name into the address bar of your browser: fallernode.local
Note: Instead of the name, you can enter the following IP address in your browser's address bar (numbers and characters): 172.17.217.217
- Confirm with »Enter«.
The start page of the container crane controls appears.
Note: If you want the password to be transmitted in encrypted form, you can enter the encryption key printed on the bag of your PCBs in the form XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
Otherwise simply leave the »Password protection« field empty, see Fig. 1.
5. Configure secure Wi-Fi network
- On the start page of the container crane controls, assign a password.
Note: Password length at least 8 and at most 35 characters.
- Memorise or write down this password.
Note: If you forget the password, contact FALLER customer support and request a Wi-Fi reset.
- Click on »Start«.
- Click again on the network symbol in the task bar on the right-hand side of your computer screen.
Note: The Wi-Fi network »FALLERWIFI1X« no longer appears. The name of the new, secured Wi-Fi network (SSID) is composed of the letter sequence »FALLERWIFI«
followed by a two-digit number indicating the ID of your primary PCB (e.g. »FALLERWIFIXX«). This network name will no longer change.
- Search for this new Wi-Fi network »FALLERWIFI__« and click on »Connect«.
- Enter the password you have assigned.
Note (recommended): Check the »Connect automatically« box to store the password.
The computer and the primary PCB are now connected.
6. Start container crane controls
- Enter the name of your container crane controls in the address bar of your browser. The name is composed of the letters »fallernode«,
the two-digit combination indicating your primary PCB's ID (see above), and the ending ».local« (e.g. »fallernodeXX.local«).
Note: Instead of the name, you can enter the following IP address in your browser's address bar (numbers and characters): 172.17.217.217
Note: If the window of the container crane controls is still open, you can alternatively reload the page with the »F5« function key (MacOS: »Command« + »R«).
- Confirm with »Enter«.
The container crane controls are ready to be used.
7. Function test
- Move the carriages back and forth along the crane rails.
The LED of the primary PCB blinks while the carriages are moving.
Note: Once the PCB is built in, the LED is not visible.
Note: If the carriages have been moved once, the LED of the primary PCB stays on until you turn the PCB off with the sliding switch.
Note: A smooth running of the carriages is only assured after the model is completed.
If the carriages can be moved along the rails, you can continue with the building of the model.
Note: If the carriages cannot be moved back and forth along the crane rails, please check that the electrical wires are properly connected to the PCB.
