4.2 Possible malfunctions and interference
The receiver on the handlebar receives signals from the transmitter in the chest
band. When in use, the receiver may occasionally also receive signals from other
sources than the chest band, such as signals emitted from another heart rate meter
in the area. In such cases, the heart rate signal may overlap with external signals.
This will result in false readings.
You can recognise false readings by the unrealistic values that are displayed. If your
normal heart is usually about 130 bpm and 200 bpm is suddenly displayed, you may
assume that the unit is briefly receiving interference. When you are out of range of
the source of interference, the data will display correctly again. Remember that false
readings can affect the amount of pedal assistance. In any case, when you stop
pedalling, the pedal assistance will also be inactivated.
4.3 No heart rate shown in display
If the current heart rate is not shown on the display, this can be due to various
causes:
a. The chest band has not been put on correctly. Put on the chest band as
described in the instructions.
b. The contact surfaces of the chest band have not been moistened or they are
dirty. Moisten / clean the contact surfaces.
c. The battery of the chest band is empty. Replace the battery.
d. Poor contact between the handlebar receiver and the control unit. Check that
the plug is properly inserted.
If these measures do not resolve the problem, contact your dealer.
4.4 Care and maintenance
•
To clean the chest band and the elastic band, use warm water and a mild
cleaning agent.
•
Store the chest band and the heart rate 'watch' in a clean, dry place. Dirt can
affect the elasticity and functioning of the transmitter. Sweat and moisture
may cause the electrodes to stay wet; this will cause the transmitter to
remain active and shorten the life of the battery.
