Switch the Birth Alarm and BA Mobile Dialler
on. After the network has been found (green
LED on permanently) and the waiting time has
elapsed (red LED out), you can trigger an
alarm by tilting the Birth Alarm Transmitter for
10 seconds. The Birth Alarm system activates
and the dialler starts calling. Let the phone
ring (max. 13 seconds) after the alarm call is
received (± 30 seconds), then call back to
the number of the BA Mobile Dialler. To
switch off the alarm, let the phone ring twice,
then hang up. The BA Mobile Dialler is now
inactive and ready for the next alarm.
3. DETAILED USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Connecting to the Birth
Alarm receiver
Important: The BA Mobile Dialler gets its
power from your Birth Alarm Receiver, so this
needs more power itself. A heavy-duty
adapter is supplied with the BA Mobile
Dialler for this purpose. This should be used
in place of the original adapter! You connect
this adapter to the Birth Alarm Receiver.
Note: You only connect the round DIN plug
after the SIM card is in place (see below).
This plug goes into the back of the Birth Alarm
Receiver.
Step 2: Acquiring, programming
and installing the SIM card
a) Acquiring SIM card
Buy a (pay as you go) SIM card from a
mobile telephone provider/operator (in the
UK: Orange, Vodaphone, O2 T-mobile).
Choose a provider with good coverage in
the area where you will be using the BA
Mobile Dialler!

Install the SIM card in your mobile. Your
phone should have the SIM lock OFF so it
can accept any SIM card.
If this is not the case, the SIM card you buy
for the BA Mobile Dialler may not be accept-
ed by your phone and will not be program-
mable (because the rules and conditions set
by the phone providers change regularly, we
cannot give any clear advice here).
Ask at the mobile telephone shop where you
buy the SIM card, just to be sure that the SIM
card will work in your telephone. Otherwise,
have the SIM lock removed from your phone.
The BA Mobile Dialler itself has no SIM lock
and accepts all SIM cards.
Note: If you live in a border area and also
want to be notified of alarms when across the
border, make sure that your SIM card works
abroad.
b) Configuring SIM card and con-
necting
The SIM card for the BA Mobile Dialler is
now in your mobile phone. Activate the SIM
card as instructed by your operator, set the
PIN code to "0 0 0 0" or switch PIN securi-
ty off. You should also switch off any other
services in order to save on pay as you go
costs.
Switch off the mailbox service or voice mail –
or have them switched off for you – to keep
call costs low.
Almost all new SIM cards are programmed to
divert if there is no answer, the line is busy, or
the like. Switch call divert off if possible.
Follow the guidelines in the manual supplied
with your mobile telephone for details of how
to program the SIM card with the numbers to
