3. Safety Instructions

• This product is intended for private, non-commercial
use only.
• Only use the product for the intended purpose.
• Protect the product from dirt, moisture and
overheating.
• Only use it in dry locations.
• Do not use the product in the immediate vicinity of
heaters or other heat sources or in direct sunlight.
• Lay all cables so that they do not pose a tripping
hazard.
• Do not bend or crush the power supply unit's cable.
• Do not drop the product and do not expose it to any
major shocks.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the product.
• Dispose of packaging material immediately according
to locally applicable regulations.
• Do not modify the device in any way. Doing so voids
the warranty.

connection cable or the switch itself is damaged.

5. Validity of the Operating Instructions
These operating instructions apply to the Hama item
no. 00053180 5-port Fast Ethernet switch and the
00053181 8-port Fast Ethernet switch (hereinafter called
"switch"). The only difference between the two products
is the number of available network ports.
6. Product Features
• Full duplex data transfers
The Hama switch is a very fast network distributor
for home use. The switch complies with the IEEE
802.3/802.3u 10/100 Mbps Ethernet standard and
enables data transfers in full duplex mode. This makes
the transfer rates almost twice as fast if the connected
devices are also full duplex capable. This allows you to
make the most of your Ethernet network's performance.
The maximum speed in full duplex mode is 200 Mbps.
• Supports wirespeed and flow regulation
The Hama switch has an integrated non-blocking and
store-and-forward architecture which enables it to
provide maximum speed for your network. The switch
ensures reliable data transfers thanks to the integrated
ow regulation for full duplex and half duplex mode.
