k. Engine
Check if the right control stick is positioned fully downwards and push the button on the plane. Slowly push the
control stick upwards, the propeller will start turning. When it is in the upper position, the plane will fly at full throttle.
Warning: be careful not to touch the rotating propeller, doing so may result in injury.
5. Flying the plane
a. Rudder / Elevator Direction
Before every flight you should check the rudder and elevator direction:
Elevator
When you pull the elevator control stick (left stick), the elevator should move upwards. The nose will go up and he
plane will gain altitude. When the elevator control stick is pushed forward, the elevator should move downwards. The
nose will go down and the plane will dive.
Rudder
Rear view. When you move the rudder control stick (right stick) to the left, the rudder should move to the left as well.
The same goes for the opposite direction.
Throttle
If the throttle stick (right stick) is in centre position, then the engine should be idle. At full throttle the engine should
reach its maximum speed.
b. Take-off
• Start against the wind.
• Check rudder and elevator movements
• Start at full throttle and when flying at low altitude only make subtle corrections.
• Climb gradually at a smooth angle
c. Normal Flight
Bring the plane onto a straight course at half speed and let go of the control sticks. If the plane deviates from its
straight course, use the trims to trim the plane so that it will stay at level altitude. To turn, slightly move the rudder so
that the plane has a 30° bank. Gently pull the elevator. To stop turning, let go of the elevator stick and move the
rudder in the opposite direction to resume a straight course.
d. Landing
• Throttle the engine and fly with a tailwind at a distance of 30m parallel to the landing strip.
• Make a 90° turn towards the landing strip and lower altitude.
• Make another 90° turn, now you are heading straight for the landing strip.
• Decrease altitude until the plane is flying 1m above the landing strip.
• Pull the elevator stick and keep it steady.
• The more the plane is closing in on the landing strip, the more the elevator stick has to be pulled.
As the plane is constantly getting slower, it will practically land by itself.
• Do not push the plane with the elevator onto the landing strip in order to try and land. When the first attempt does
not succeed, increase engine power to full throttle and make a touch and go landing and make a second attempt.
This is better than a forced landing.
