inspection & maintenance
en
as owner or operator it is your legal responsibility to carry out and record regular inspection and maintenance.
the given checklist explains how to inspect and maintain your Hy-land project and impact attenuating surfacing.
It should be inspected and maintained in accordance with the recommendations as detailed in en 1176-7:2008
(Guidance on installation, inspection, maintenance and operation for playground equipment and surfacing) and
recorded in the logbook.
General
In case of a defect, the Project should be considered unsafe
and secured against use until repaired or removed from your
playground.
Access to a Hy-land Project should be denied in the following
cases:
• The Project has not been fully or safely installed.
• The impact attenuating surface has not been fully installed.
• Maintenance works cannot guarantee the safety of operation.
On any Playground there should be a sign giving the following
information:
• General emergency number
• Telephone number to contact maintenance personnel
• Name of the general playground site
• Address of the playground
(Signs as: "Use at your own risk" or similar, are prohibited)
The entry, exit and emergency paths to and from a playground
site, intended for use by the public and emergency services,
should be accessible and free of obstacles at all times.
In case of an accident, the following information should be
recorded on a supplement:
• Date and time of accident
• Age and sex of victim and clothing worn, including footwear
• Equipment involved
• Number of children on site at the time of accident
• Description of accident
• Injury sustained including parts of body affected
• Action taken
• Witness statements
• Any subsequent equipment modification
• Weather conditions
• Any other relevant information

Installation

Any Project should be installed in a safe way, meet national or
local building and safety regulations and strictly in accordance
with our general, safety and assembly instructions (Part 1 and 3).
On completion of a new playground, a post-installation routine
visual inspection should be carried out by a competent person to
assess compliance with the relevant parts of this owner manual.
If applicable, a Project must be left for 48 hours after installation
to allow concrete to set.

General
When a new Project is first put into use, the novelty of the new
project may lead to initial above average use. It is considered
essential to have daily routine visual inspection during this initial
"running in" period.
Inspection and maintenance
A routine visual inspection enables the identification of obvious
hazards that can result from vandalism, use or weather conditions
e.g. broken parts. A daily visual inspection is recommended for a
Project that has heavy use and/or is subject to vandalism.
The operational inspection is more detailed as it checks the
operation and the stability of your Project, especially for any wear.
The annual main inspection shall establish the overall level of safety
of the Project, foundations (bases and footings), and surfaces.
However the inspection must take into account the possible
variations in the level of safety of the Project due to previous repairs
and replacements. A competent person should carry out the Annual
Main Inspection after the winter or at least once a year.
These inspections should be according to the checklist as a
minimum and should cover the whole play area, Project and
impact attenuating surface. Fences, gates, seating and open
play areas should also be assessed. The frequency of inspection
depends on intensity of use, levels of vandalism, weather
conditions, coastal location, air pollution and age of equipment.
Irregularities found during these inspections should be recorded
and repaired or replaced. A logbook for recording your inspections
and maintenance is provided and should be kept by the owner/
operator in charge of the equipment inspection and maintenance.
Disposal
When this Project is to be taken out of service, remove all parts and
components and dispose of safely in accordance with local disposal
ordinances.
