b) Charging the internal battery using solar energy
The internal battery of the solar charger can be charged with solar energy from the
integrated solar cell or via a suitable USB power source. It is best to place the solar
charger and its solar cell in direct sunlight when charging. Artificial light may also be
used, but it is much less efficient than sunlight.
1. Charge the internal battery when the battery level falls below 30%.
2. To charge the solar charger, place the solar cell facing upwards towards the sunlight or
another adequate source of light. Do not let the product get wet, e.g. due to rain.
c) Charging the internal battery via USB
The Y cable is primarily used for charging the internal battery via the MICRO IN micro-USB
port (5). However, it can also be used to charge a mobile device via the USB OUT USB-A
port (4).
If no adequate sunlight or artificial light is available, charge the internal battery via a
USB power source.
1. Charge the internal battery when a battery level of below 30% is indicated.
2. Connect the micro-USB connector to the MICRO IN micro-USB port (5) on the solar
charger.
3. Insert the low voltage socket on the Y cable into the low voltage plug on the micro-USB
connector.
4. Connect the USB-A plug on the Y cable to two USB connections on a computer or another
suitable USB power source. The power source must be able to deliver a charging current
of at least 1 A over two connections. Charging begins as soon as the USB power source
delivers a current.
5. The battery level indicator LEDs (2) flash to indicate that the internal battery is charging.
The three battery level indicator LEDs display the current level of the internal battery in
percent (%) (see "Checking the battery level"). All three LEDs light up together when the
internal battery is fully charged.
6. Remove the product from the USB power source when the display shows a full battery
(over 90%). The internal battery is now ready for use.
d) Charging a mobile device
The Y cable is primarily used to charge the solar charger. However, if you wish to
charge two mobile devices at the same time, you can use the Y cable. Please note,
however, that one USB-A plug on the Y cable must remain free.
1. Connect the appropriate USB connector to your mobile device.
2. Now connect the low-voltage plug on the connector to the low-voltage socket on the USB
cable.
3. Connect the USB-A connector on the USB cable to the USB port (4) on the solar charger.
4. Briefly press the on/off button (3) to start charging. Charging begins when the internal
battery delivers a current. An LED flashes during charging.
5. Hold down the on/off button for 2 seconds to end/interrupt charging.
6. You can charge two mobile devices at the same time with item no. 1226996 if the mobile
devices have different USB connections (USB mini/micro). Use another appropriate USB
cable, which is not included with this product. Alternatively, the Y cable can be used for
different connection types. If you wish to charge a second mobile device with the same
connection type, an extra appropriate USB connector is needed, which is not included with
this product. The USB OUT 5 V 2.1 A USB port delivers a maximum current of 2.1 A. The
USB OUT 5 V 1 A USB-A port delivers a maximum current of 1 A. Both USB-A ports deliver
a combined maximum current of 2.1 A.
7. Monitor the charging process. The charging device switches to trickle charging when
charging is complete.
8. Remove the USB cable from the product and the mobile device when charging is complete.
The solar charger can be used to charge a mobile device at the same time as the
internal battery is charging with solar power from the solar cell. However, if the charging
current is delivered via USB, charging the internal battery at the same time as charging
a mobile device is not possible.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

• Disconnect the USB cable and connected mobile devices from the product before cleaning.
• Do not immerse the product in water.
• Under no circumstances should you service any of the components in the interior of the
product, therefore never open/dismantle it.
• A dry, soft and clean cloth is sufficient for cleaning. Do not press too hard on the charger
housing as this can lead to scratch marks.
• Dust can be easily removed using a soft and clean long-haired brush.
DISPOSAL
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant
statutory regulations.
The built-in battery must be disposed of by a specialist.
b) (Rechargeable) batteries
You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/
rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Contaminated (rechargeable) batteries are labelled with this symbol to indicate that
disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The designations for the heavy metals
involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (name on (rechargeable)
batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on the left).
Used (rechargeable) batteries can be returned to collection points in your
municipality, our stores or wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
