Remaining risks
Even when the electric tool is used properly and all
the relevant safety measures are followed, the following
remaining risks can still occur due to the design of the
electric tool required for the intended working operations:
– Contact with the chain cutter in the cutting area
– Injury by the sharp cutting edges during replacement
of cutting tools
– Clothing can be caught by the rotating parts
– Kickback of the electric tool
– Pieces of the workpiece may be thrown away
– Hazards invited by the flexible supply cord
– Even during proper use, risks of some specific accidents
or damages cannot be anticipated.
Assembly of the guide frame
– Insert the scaled guide arm (2), using the end with
threaded holes, into its mounting hole on the side
of the base plate (1).
– Turn the guide arm until the scale faces upwards
and the thread holes correspond with both the through
holes of the base plate.
– Tighten both the screws with inner-hexagon heads (3).
– Put the lateral guide fence on the guide arm and fix it
tightly with the locking lever.
– Unscrew the hexagon nut (4) from the vertical guide rod.
Preparing and installation
of the chain mortiser
– Before installation of the electric tool, remove the plug
from the mains socket.
– Put the chain cutting tool for mortising in place. Make
sure that only chain cutting tools designed for mortising
depths of 100 - 150 mm are installed. Any other sizes
of the chain cutting tools are prohibited for application
with this guide frame. Otherwise safety of the electric
tool is no longer guaranteed and the manufacturer is not
liable for damages resulting from such application.
– Loosen the locking lever which fixes the lateral guide
of the chain mortiser in place, push the lateral guide
back from the chain and remove forwards.
– When using a 150 mm chain cutter, the spacer bushing
provided (78 001 - see accessories) must be placed on
the motor bracket (03 001 - see the list of spare parts)
and the adjustment ring (12 002) removed.
– Place the chain mortiser in the guide frame from above.
Be careful to insert the mortiser evenly, without force.
If the mortiser gets seized, remove it upwards from the
frame and repeat the procedure.
– Screw the hexagon nut (4) back and tighten slightly.

– Slightly tighten the locking lever of the chain mortiser
adjacent to the motor bracket.
Important: The instructions concerning chain cutters
and replacement of chain cutting tools, included
in the Operating Manual for the chain mortiser CMP 150,
must be followed.

Operation

The guide frame is fitted with a pneumatic spring.
The effect of such design is that the feed force required
for cutting remains constant from the beginning down to
the full depth of mortice. At the end of cutting operation,
the electric tool is retracted back in the initial position.
The adjustment ring (5) can be fixed in place by means
of the fixing screw (6) and thus the depth of mortice can
be steplessly adjusted.

In this case, the depth gauge of the chain mortiser is no
longer needed and can be pulled to the top and locked
in place.
The distance between mortice and the stopping face
of the workpiece is adjusted according to the scale
on the guide arm for lateral fence of the guide frame.
Use the reading line on the lateral guide fence which
corresponds to the slot length produced by the chain
cutting tool installed (for 40 mm or 50 mm).
Final quality of the mortice depends on feed speed,
characteristics of the workpiece and sharpness of the chain
cutter. For this reason, choose appropriate cutting pressure
or feed speed matching the sort of mortised wood, and cut
(Figures 2 and 3)
steadily down to the required depth. In any case, sudden
and jerky movements must be avoided and the feed speed
remained stable.
Important: The chain cutter is a rotating tool. Cutting
edges of the chain cutter can work both during descent
and ascent. See the direction of rotation marked with
the arrow on the safety guard.
Side thrust of the cutting tool must always be compensated
by means of the lateral guide. Danger of accident! For this
reason, never work without the lateral guide or use one
of the guide frames. If a large mortice is made by plunging
the chain cutter into the workpiece side by side, it is
recommended to proceed in accordance with Figure 4.

Maintenance and care

Both the vertical guide rods must be protected against
rusting by regular lubrication.
