BEFORE USE
• Always check that the supply voltage is the same as the voltage indicated on the nameplate of the tool
• Avoid damage that can be caused by screws, nails and other elements in your workpiece; remove them
before you start working
• Before using the tool check that the knives do not brush anywhere
• Use completely unrolled and safe extension cords with a capacity of 16 Amps (U.K. 13 Amps)
• Secure the workpiece (a workpiece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more securely than
by hand) DURING USE
• Always keep the cord away from moving parts of the tool; direct the cord to the rear, away from the tool
• Keep your fingers away from the rotating knives
• In case of electrical or mechanical malfunction, immediately switch off the tool and disconnect the plug
• If the cord is damaged or cut through while working, do not touch the cord, but immediately disconnect
the plug
• If any chip should get jammed in the chip outlet, you should switch off the motor, ensure that all moving
parts have come to a complete standstill, disconnect the plug, and remove the jammed chip AFTER USE
• Wait for the cutter block to stop before setting the tool down (an exposed knife may engage the surface
leading to possible loss of control and serious injury) WHEN CONNECTING NEW 3-PIN PLUG (U.K. ONLY):
• Do not connect the blue (= neutral) or brown (= live) wire in the cord of this tool to the earth terminal of
the plug
• If for any reason the old plug is cut off the cord of this tool, it must be disposed of safely and not left
unattended

OPERATING INSTRUCTION

Preparation (Fig.1) (Fig.2)
1. Use the rotary switch (2) to set the desired cutting depth of the planer. The cutting depth can be set from
0-3 mm according to the cutting depth scale (1). The depth scale division is 0.1 mm
Turning the rotary switch will raise or lower the front planning sole (13) of the planer. Turn the rotary switch
clockwise for lifting the front planing sole. This will increase the cutting depth.
Turn the rotary switch counter clockwise for lowering the front planing sole. This will decrease the cutting
depth.
2. Insert the power plug into a suitable wall socket.
3. For safety reasons the electric planer is equipped with a safety lock-out
(5) against accidental activation. First press the safety lock-out (5) inwards
and hold it pressed. Simultaneously press the ON/OFF switch (7). Now
release the safety lock-out. Please note that the ON/OFF switch cannot be
locked in the ON position.
4. To turn off the machine, release the ON/OFF switch.

1. If possible, connect the electric planer to a vacuum ceaner or a dust
extractor.
2. For short planing work you can use the dust collection bag. A dust collection bag
can be ordered as accessory.
3. Push the dust collection bag firmly into the planing debris opening (3).
5. Empty the dust collection bag regularly
Operation
6. Switch on the electric planer and wait until the machine has reached full working speed. Only guide the
planer against the workpiece after switching on!
7. Place the front planing sole (13) on the work piece. The planing blades must be
clear of the workpiece at this point. Make sure the front planing sole is flat on the
surface of the workpiece.
8. Guide the electric planer over the surface of the workpiece slowly with even
speed.
9. When you have moved far enough, press the rear planing sole (18) on the
workpiece.
Always keep the power cable away from the planing bades.
5. Do not set the machine down before the blade shaft (17) has stopped. The electric planer is equipped
with a parking shoe (19) so the machine can be rest down on the workpiece without damaging the blade
shaft and the workpiece.
Hints on Working with the Electric Planer (Fig.3)
The quality of the results is determined by the condition of the planing blades (16), the working speed and
the cutting depth. Deep cutting and high working speed will lead to rather rough cuts. The best results
are achieved with sharp paning blades, slow speed and a very low cutting depth. Guide the planer with
even speed and a steady hand. For best results, take enough breaks during work. Take care to work in the
direction of the wood fibres; the wood may be ripped when working across the fibres. Always make sure
the machine moves parallel to the surface of the workpiece. Do not move the machine too fast to avoid
jamming it with wood chips.
Parallel Guide
1. Mount the parallel guide (21) with the mounting screw (22) on the housing (9a or 9b), depending on
which side on the workpiece the rebate should be.
2. Loosen the wing screw (A) on the parallel guide and adjust the desired width. Tighten the wing screw
only hand tight.

Rebate Depth Stop
1. Mount the rebate depth stop (23) with the mounting screw (22) on the housing (9b or 9a), depending on
which side the rebate should be.
2. Adjust the desired rebate depth. On the housing you will find a notch (see red arrow) for the O-Position
and on the rebate depth stop you will find a respective scale.
3. At the first go, guide the planer that way so the parallel guide is exactly sitting flat on the workpiece
Please note that the first go is essential for the appropriateness of the rebate depth! In the second step of
the process, place the edge of the planing sole on the rebate. The parallel guide is helpful for first planing
and can be removed after that. Make sure the edge of the planing sole is sitting exactly on the rebate. If
the rebate depth stop is lying on the rebate according to the adjusted scale, the rebate depth is achieved.
Replacing the Planing Blades (Fig.5)
Attention! The planing blades are sharp. There is risk of injuries. Do not touch the edges of the planing
blades.
1. Before undertaking any work on the electric planer, pull the power plug.
2. The planing blades (16) are clamped into notches in three blade shafts (17) with their blade carriers (B).
Loosen the clamping screws (15) by screwing them counter clockwise (the clamping screws will be screed
into the blade carrier).
3. Press down the blade shaft guide (12) inwards and push out the planing blade only (with a small wooden
wedge or dull tool) by pushing the blade out to the side from the carrier. Or, preferably for better handling,
remove the whole blade carrier. The planing blades have cutting edges on both sides and can be changed
when becoming blunt.
4. Turn over the planing blades or replace them.
