Please read these instructions thoroughly, before using the UV-C unit!

Use
These UVC lamps are intended for installation in fi ltration systems in
gardens or fi sh ponds for cleaning of contaminated pond water.
It is not allowed to use the unit in or on the side of swimming pools!
For all technical data please refer to the type plates.
Safety measures
- Caution! UV-C radiation is dangerous to eyes and skin!
Do operate the UV-C unit only inside the casing. An integrated
safety switch protects against UVC radiation when the device is
open; the UVC lamp is lighted only when the UVC unit is
completely assembled! The correct function can easily and safely
be checked by the inspection glass (8) shining violet.
- It may only be used in garden ponds and in their protection area, if the
installations have been set up to comply with the code's requirements.
Please contact an electrician.
- The UV-C unit has to be connected to a regular safety plug socket
through a circuit breaker (ground fault circuit interruptor, 30 mA).
- Before use: Check whether mains connection and electrical box are
intact.
- The mains connection of the electrical box cannot be replaced.
If the connection is damaged the device has to be scrapped.
- If the mains connection between electrical box and UV-C unit is
damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer or his customer
service or similarly qualifi ed personnel in order to avoid dangers.
- Mains voltage and type of current have to correspond to the data on the
type plate of the electrical box.
- The connection box and the electrical box (for indoor use only) should
be located in a water-protected area. They should be at least 2 m away
from the edge of the pond (see fi g. A).
- Keep the plug dry!
- Before performing any maintenance on the UVC lamp, pull out all
plugs on other electrical devices and the garden or fi sh pond
(disconnect all electrical devices from the power source).
- It is not allowed to run the UV-C unit when people are inside the
water!
- Do never immerse the UV-C unit in water and make sure that the unit
may not be fl ooded.
- Do never hang up or transport the UV-C unit by the cables.
- Avoid exposure to intense sunlight.

Start-up (see fi g. A + B)
Important! Make sure that water always passes through the UV-C unit
- You should only connect a pump with a max. delivery head of 10 m
(1 bar).
- The water temperature should not exceed 35° C.
- Insert the UVC lamp in the corresponding bore of the fi lter and secure in
place with threaded retaining ring (20), gasket (21), and screws (22).
- The quartz glass tube (2) will be polluted by the pond water, thus
reducing the UV-C performance. This needs cleaning of the quartz
glass tube (2) at regular intervals according to the degree of pollution.
- The UV-C lamp (1) has a rated life of approx. 8000 hours. After that it
should be replaced, at least at the end of one season (from March till
October).
- We recommend you to run the unit 24 hours a day (continuous use).
Avoid frequent switching (on/off). This will reduce the lifetime of the
UV-C lamp.
- A 1˝ thread can be connected to the inlet of these UVC lamps.
- Hoses can be mounted directly on the pump with the hose fi tting
included in the accessories.
Cleaning and changing the lamp (see fi g. B)
Dismantling
1. Follow the safety measures.
2. Disconnect the UV-C unit and secure against reclosing.
3. Pour out the water completely.
4. Rotate the screw cap (7) at the end cap (6) in counterclockwise
direction to release.
5. Remove the end cap (6) CAREFULLY: the UVC lamp (1) is attached to
it. Pay attention to the O-ring (5) at the end cap (6)!
6. Hold the UVC lamp (1) at the base and remove and replace if
necessary. Old UVC lamps should not be broken and disposed of in
household waste. Please consult with your waste removal contractor.
7. Rotate the pressure piece (10) in counterclockwise direction to
release and remove.
8. Carefully extract silica tube (2) from the housing (11). Pay attention to
the O-ring (3/4) on the silica tube (2).
9. Carefully clean all parts. Do not use tools with sharp edges.
Replace the silica tube or the o-ring if defective.
Replacing the starter (only for 18 + 36 watts)
10. Release the 2 screws (12) in the end cap (6) and extract the lamp
holder (13) together with the socket (14).
11. Remove the starter (16) and rotate in counterclockwise direction to
release and extract from the starter socket (15).
12. Insert the new starter (16) in the starter socket (15) and rotate in
clockwise direction to secure.
13. Insert starter (16) and starter socket (15) into the end cap (6), insert
lamp holder (13) with lamp socket (14), and secure with
the 2 screws (12).
Assembly
14. Slide the O-ring (3/4) onto the silica tube (2) and insert both parts into
the housing.
15. Rotate the pressure piece (10) in clockwise direction to secure the
silica tube (2).
16. Position the O-ring (5) properly on the end cap (6).
17. Rotate the screw cap (7) in counterclockwise direction on
A
the housing (11) to secure the end cap (6) with the UVC lamp (1).
during operation. Otherwise the unit could be damaged.
