Installation

Air quality
– For optimum performance and maximum machine life we re-
commend use of compressed air with a dew point between
+2°C and +10°C. Installation of a refrigeration-type air dryer
is recommended.
– Use a separate air filter to remove solid particles larger than
30 microns and more than 90 % of water, installed as close as
possible to the machine and prior to any other air preparation
unit. Blow out the hose before connecting.
– The compressed air must contain a small quantity of oil. We
strongly recommend that you install a oil-fog lubricator to be
set normally at 3-4 drops(50mm
cycle running tools, or a single-point lubricator for short cycle
running tools.
– Regarding lubrication free tools it is, at the customers option,
no disadvantage if the compressed air contains a small quantity
of oil as supplied from a lubricator. (For further information
please see Air Line Equipment in our main catalogue.)
Compressed air connection
– The machine is designed for a working pressure (e) of 6–7 bar
= 600–700 kPa = 87–102 psi.
– Blow out the hose before connecting.
Handling
Power control
The striking power of the riveting hammer can be steplessly con-
trolled by means of the adjustable stop. Maximum power is ob-
tained when the adjusting screw is screwed out as far as it goes.

Maintenance

Dismantling and reassembly
The riveting hammer is of a simple design and has only a few
parts. This makes for easy dismantling and reassembly, but atten-
tion should nevertheless be paid to the following instructions:
1) In dismantling and assembling, always secure the riveting
hammer vertically around the cylinder to facilitate removal and
fitting of the main valve assembly.
2) Before disassembling the screwed connection between the
handle and the cylinder, the locking pin must be removed.
3) When reassembling the said threaded connection, the tightening
torque must be 250 Nm (185 ftlb).
Important! Holes and drilled passages for the locking pin are
made according to a vernier scale. If the stipulated torque, 250
Nm (185 ftlb), has been applied but no hole for the locking pin
is uncovered, the back head must not be unscrewed but must
be tightened further until a hole is uncovered and the locking
pin can be pressed into it.
4) Before assembly it should be checked that all main valve parts
are free from burrs and well cleaned.
5) Lubricate all parts with a small amount of oil before reas-
sembling.
Lubrication
When the riveting hammer is in use, it should be oiled once per
shift. The oil (fluid type), which should be applied in an amount
3
of 1 cm
, can be dropped into the air hose. When the machine is

air consumption for long
EN
in continuous service, installation of an Desoutter oil-fog lubricator
is recommended.
A
An excessive amount of oil will prevent the main valve from
functioning. It is therefore vitally important to lubricate in strict
accordance with the recommendations.
Use lubricants of good quality. The oils and grease delivered by
the oil companies mentioned in the table are examples of lubricants
which are recommended.

Overhaul
If the riveting hammer is used every day, it should be overhauled
and cleaned once every six months.

Spare parts
Parts without ordering number are for technical reasons not de-
livered separately.
The use of other than genuine Desoutter replacement parts may
result in decreased tool performance and increased maintenance
and may, at the company option, invalidate all warranties.
