Radio interference

Using a microwave oven can cause interference that may disturb the
reception of your radios, televisions or similar appliances
If there is any interference, this can be reduced or eliminated by
taking the following measures:
1 Clean the microwave's door and air-tight surface
2 Redirect the aerial on the radio or television
3 Change the position of the microwave in relation to the receiver
4 Move the microwave further away from the receiver
5 Connect the microwave oven to a different socket so the
GB
microwave oven and the receiver are on different circuits

Principles of cooking in a microwave

1 Arrange the food properly on a plate Place the thickest food on
the edges of the plate
2 Monitor the cooking time Cook for the specified minimum
period and lengthen the cooking time if necessary Overcooked
food may emit smoke or catch fire
3 Cover food during cooking The cloche allows food to cook evenly
and prevent splattering
4 Turn food once during cooking in the microwave oven in order
to speed up the cooking time for foods such as chicken and
hamburgers Large sized food, such as roasting joints, must be
turned at least once during cooking
5 Turn food like meatballs and place those that were in the centre
of the dish near the outside

Container guide

1 The ideal material for a container going in the microwave
is transparent to microwaves and allows the energy to pass
through its walls to heat the food
2 Microwaves cannot penetrate metal The metal containers and
dishes with a metal rim should therefore not be used
3 Do not use recycled paper products in the microwave as they
may contain small metal fragments which may cause sparks
and/or flames
4 It is recommended to use round/oval dishes rather than square/
rectangular, because food placed in corners tends to overcook
5 Thin strips of aluminium foil can be used to prevent overcooking
of exposed areas However, be sure to use a suitable amount of
foil and keep a distance of 254 cm between the paper and the
cavity
The list below is a general guide to help you select appropriate
containers
