I
GENERAL PROVISIONS
1
National technical approval certifies that the object of approval can be used and/or employed
within the meaning of the German state building codes.
2
Where national technical approval requires special knowledge and experience from persons
responsible for manufacturing construction products and types of construction pursuant to
§ 17 Para. 5 of the Model Building Code in German state regulations, it should be noted that
this specialist knowledge and experience can be attested by equivalent documentation
issued by other member states of the European Union. This also applies to attestations
provided within the context of the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community
(EEC) or other bilateral agreements, if applicable.
3
National technical approval does not replace the permits, approvals and certifications
required by law in connection with the realisation of building proposals.
4
National technical approval is granted without prejudice to the rights of third parties,
particularly in respect of private property rights.
5
Without prejudice to more extensive regulations contained in the "Special Provisions", the
manufacturers and distributors of the object of approval shall make copies of the national
technical approval available to indirect and direct users of the object of approval and shall
inform them that the national technical approval must be present at the site of use of the
object. Copies of the national technical approval shall be made available to the relevant
authorities on request.
6
The national technical approval may only be reproduced in its entirety. Publication of
excerpts requires permission from the German Institute for Structural Engineering (DIBt).
Text and drawings used in advertising must not contradict the national technical approval.
Translations of the national technical approval must bear the notice: "This is a translation of
the German original and has not been reviewed by the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik."
7
The national technical approval can be revoked at any time. The provisions of the national
technical approval may subsequently be amended or supplemented, particularly if required
by new technical findings.

SPECIAL PROVISIONS
1
Object of approval and scope of application
(1) The object of this national technical approval is stationary, rectangular polyethylene (PE-
HD) containment units as described in Annex 1, manufactured in an injection moulding
process. The containment units have a profiled floor and walls and may be used with or
without deck surfaces. They have connecting profiles which allow them to be put together to
cover larger areas.
(2) The type designations, dimensions, containment volumes, permitted storage weights and
number of perforated plates are listed in Table 1.

See Annex 1.1 and 1.2
35 HD
See Annex 1.3 and 1.4
60 HD
See Annex 1.5 and 1.6
120 HD
See Annex 1.7 and 1.8
(3) The containment units may be positioned in building spaces and in the open air, but not
in zone 0 and 1 areas with a risk of explosion. They must be protected against vehicle
impact, e.g. by installing in a protected place or using collision guards. In areas subject to
earthquakes in earthquake zones 1 to 3 pursuant to DIN 4149
adequately secured in their positions to ensure that concentrated individual loads shall not
impact them in the event of an earthquake.
(4) In open air installations, the containment units must be protected against wind and
precipitation, i.e. the installation area must be sufficiently covered.
(5) The containment units can be used in the storage of liquids hazardous to water, with a
flash point above 100°C, in containers and vessels.
2
(6) Liquids on substance list 40-1.1
of the German Institute for Structural Engineering (DIBt)
with a reducing coefficient of A
≤ 1.0, and liquids from the following specified groups, require
2
no special proof that the PE material of the containment unit is leak tight or resistant:
-
Aqueous organic acid solutions up to 10%
-
Mineral acids up to 20% as well as acidic hydrolytic salts in aqueous solution (pH < 6),
except for oxidising acids and their salts, and hydrofluoric acid
-
Inorganic bases as well as alkaline hydrolytic salts in aqueous solutions (pH > 8), except
oxidising salt solutions (e.g. hypochlorite),
-
Solutions of inorganic non-oxidising salts with a pH-value between 6 and 8.
(7) When storing media in accordance with paragraph (5) and (6), which are governed by the

Hazardous Materials Act, TRGS 510
is to be observed.
