Zeck systems (see Fig. 2). The direct output signal has a level
of 0dB ±5 dB referred to the input signal at an output impe-
dance of 200 ohms.

The SYSTEM CONNECTOR (2) jack provides a convenient way
to combine several VECTOR series cabinets for a 3-way active
PA system without having to use additional crossover units.
This setup requires a stereo phone jack cable for connection
of the SYSTEM CONNECTOR jack of the VECTOR S3A and
the INSERT jack of a VECTOR T3A or VECTOR T2AM cabinet
(see Fig.3). In this wiring, the fullrange signal from the
VECTOR T3A or VECTOR T2AM cabinet is sent to the VECTOR S3A
where the built-in active crossover divides it up into a
mid/highrange signal and a bass signal. The bass signal
remains inside the VECTOR S3A for further amplification and
the mid/highrange signal is sent back to the remaining cabinets
via the stereo cable. The built-in active crossover of the

Operational instructions
VECTOR T3A or VECTOR T2AM again divides the mid/high-
range signal up into a midrange and a highrange signal at
1.8 kHz.

5. Active section

Power amplifier / crossover unit:
The 300W digital Class-D power amplifier for the 12" bass
speaker has been optimized to amplify frequencies below
120Hz. As its factory-tuned frequency response guarantees
best results, no further adjustments are necessary.
Limiter:
The electronic limiter works automatically and has a LIMITER
A C T I V E L E D for active-mode indication. When the LED flashes
up, the input signal level should be reduced until the LED
just stays dark.
This limiter works unlike other limiter circuits, which act
more or less like an automatic gain control. This circuit emu-
lates the thermal behavior of the speaker`s voice coil and
takes this virtual temperature as a reference for its limitation
algorithm. As this virtual temperature always corresponds
the real voice coil temperature, the limiter is able to protect
the speaker against overload or destruction.
Controls:
The VOLUME control (4) allows to adjust the overall output
volume of the VECTOR S3A. The BASS ENHANCE control (6)
works at 85 Hz and allows to cut or boost the low-bass
response for ±6 dB.
Mains supply:
The VECTOR S3A must be connected to a mains supply source
(230V ac 50/60Hz) via the MAINS INPUT (9) socket. The
POWER switch (8) activates the unit as indicated by the
POWER LED (7). A newly developed line filter prevents r.f.
interference to enter the mains.
