Pull the locking mechanism (11) of the battery compartment cover outwards and lift up
the battery compartment cover (13). Insert the battery.
When inserting the batteries, ensure that the polarity is correct according to the illustra-
tion on the inside of the battery compartment.
If the battery warning (e) appears on the display (4) for the first time, the measuring tool
can still be operated for approximately another two hours.
Take the battery out of the measuring tool if you do not intend to use the tool for
u
a long time. The battery can corrode and self-discharge during prolonged storage.
Operation

Starting operation

Protect the measuring tool from moisture and direct sunlight.
u
Do not expose the measuring tool to any extreme temperatures or variations in
u
temperature. For example, do not leave it in a car for extended periods of time. In
case of large variations in temperature, allow the measuring tool to adjust to the ambi-
ent temperature before putting it into operation. The precision of the measuring tool
may be compromised if exposed to extreme temperatures or variations in temperat-
ure.
Setting up the measuring tool (see figure A)
Place the measuring tool at least 5 m away from the line laser. On the line laser, switch on
receiver mode and select an operating mode which either generates only one horizontal
or one vertical laser plane.
Note: Do not select an operating mode which generates both horizontal and vertical
laser planes at the same time (cross-line operation) because this might impair the height
readings of the laser beam.
Position the measuring tool such that the laser beam can reach the reception area (10).
Align it in such a way that the laser beam runs straight through the reception area (as
shown in the figure).
Switching On/Off
A loud audio signal sounds when the measuring tool is switched on. For this
u
reason, keep the measuring tool away from your ears and from other persons
when you switch it on. The loud sound can damage hearing.
To switch on the measuring tool, press the on/off button (2). All display indicators and
all LEDs light up briefly and an audio signal sounds.
