Twilight / Sun sensor
Art.no.: 941 LUX
1. Description
The 941 twilight/sun sensor is used for controlling roller
shutters and Venetian blinds and for lighting control in the
PHC building system. It consists of the 941 LUX-LF light
sensor and the 941 LUX-REG evaluation unit.
With the 941 LUX-LF light sensor, up to ten 941 LUX-REG
evaluation units can be operated in parallel in order to eva-
luate multiple brightness and twilight values.
Functional principle of the twilight switch:
The twilight switch compares the current brightness level with the set
switch-on threshold. If the brightness level goes below the desired switch-
on threshold, the static output A10 of the twilight switch is switched on
after the set delay (2 seconds to 3 minutes). A green LED indicates when
the current level drops below the switch-on threshold. This allows for an
exact setting of the desired switching brightness.
If the brightness level increases and the switch-off threshold is reached,
the output switches off again after the set delay.
Functional principle of the brightness switch:
The brightness switch compares the current brightness level with the set
switch-on threshold. If the brightness level exceeds the desired switch-on
threshold, the static output A11 of the brightness switch is switched on
after the set delay (2 seconds to 6 minutes). A green LED indicates when
the current level exceeds the switch-on threshold. This allows for an exact
setting of the desired switching brightness. If the brightness level decre-
ases and the switch-off threshold is reached, the output switches off again
after the set delay. With the
switch-on and switch-off thresholds can be specified (hysteresis). The
switch-off threshold is smaller than switch-on threshold by the amount of
the set factor. By adjusting the value you can avoid continual opening and
closing of the roller shutters when the brightness level of the sun varies.

3. Installation
GB
The 941 LUX may only be installed by an authorised specialist. The instal-
lation in the distributor is performed by snapping onto the top hat rail ac-
cording to DIN EN 50022. The installation of the 941 LUX-LF light sensor
is performed according to use on the outside wall of the roller shutters that
are to be controlled. In order to ensure the moisture protection when in-
stalling outdoors, the cable entrance of the light sensor must always point
down. The light rays should not be blocked by overhanging roofs or similar.
4. Operation
Switch-on threshold of the twilight switch:
During initial operation, the potentiometer for adjusting the switch-on
threshold should be turned all the way to the left after the light sensor has
been attached and the power supply hooked up. If the desired outside
brightness exists, then turn the potentiometer slowly to the right until the
green control diode just switches on. The switch-on threshold is thus set
to the desired brightness level.
Switch-off threshold of the twilight switch:
The switching hysteresis determines the behaviour of the switch-off
threshold E
The set switch-on threshold, multiplied by the hysteresis factor results in
the switch-off threshold, that is, the brightness level at which the twilight
switch turns off.

ness switch turns off.
5. Parallel operation of multiple 941 LUX-REG evaluation units
on one 941 LUX-LF light sensor
Up to ten 941 LUX-REG evaluation units can be operated in parallel with
one light sensor. The light sensor is attached to the terminals S1 and S2 of
a 941 LUX-REG evaluation unit. All other 941 LUX-REG evaluation units
are connected together over the terminal S3 for parallel operation.
Ensure that the evaluation units are connected to one and the same power
supply with 24 V operating voltage. The output B1 of the evaluation units
must be connected to ground (0 V) of the corresponding PHC input module,
with which the inputs A10 or A11 of the evaluation unit are connected.
