To operate it must be combined with a
hydraulic pump with up to 700bar (70MPa)
pressures. The hydraulic cabel/rope cutting
head is designed exclusicely for use with
Intercable pumps. If the tool is to be used
with any other kind of pump, authorisation
must be obtained from Intercable befor use,
failing which the Company does not accept
any responsibility for damage to the tool or
people.
5. Instructions for proper use
5.1. Operation of the cutting head
Before starting work make sure that all live
parts in the working area are disconnected.
If this is not possible, take appropriate pro-
tection measures for working in proximity
to live parts. Release the lock bolt (1) and
open the cutting head. Place the cable on
the open counter blade (2) and position the
cutting head on the cable in such a way that
they are at right angles. The cutting head
has to be places on teh cable in such a way
that it stays firm during the whole cutting
process. After that, the cutting head can be
connected by means of the coupling nipple
on the pressure hose to the hydraulic pump.
Connect the coupling nipple (4) with the
high pressure hose only when the unit is
pressure-free. In order to keep the dust-proff
caps of coupling and nipple cleas, during
operation pleas fit both parts into each
other. The cutting process is characterised by
the fact that the cutting blade (3) positioned
on the cylinder moves toward the cable. The
cut is complete when the cutting blade (3)
and the counterblade (2) overlap. Once the
cable has been cut the pump's drain pressure
over, returning the moving blade back to
its starting position. After use the cylinder
returns to its initial position to prevent the
oil level in the hydraulic pump dropping too
much. After this, the cutting head can be
disconnected from the hose. The threaded

coupling must be protected against dirt with
teh dustproof cap.

area of the blades during the cut-
ting process.

Warning: Hydraulic
pumps are fitted with a timer relay
to prevent the cut-off valve overhea-
ting. As a result, the pressure accumulated is
released automatically after about 4 minutes
and the cylinder returns to its initial position.

5.2. Application range

The cutting head is designed to cut alumini-
um, copper and steel cables up to 25mm in
diameter.

5.3. Mounting instructions

The hydraulic cable/rope cutting head PS120
/ PS120-SK160 may only be used as intended
by Intercable.
Use only original replacement parts.
